There can only be one post title...

"Opera is when a guy gets stabbed in the back and, instead of bleeding, he sings."

Hey all.

Quick followup on the last real post...
Still haven't beaten Persona 4, and don't plan to for quite some time. I haven't been playing it diligently, been watching to much D. Gray Man (is there such a limit?) and it seems to be one of those games that you actually WANT to invest a lot of time in, trying to get the most badass personas.

The races a few weeks ago in Peshtigo WI went really well. On the way up, we passed through Kenosha, and I half expected Schultzie to pop out on the street around every corner. There were two races, a C-1 race on Saturday, and C-2 on Sunday. I got fifth in C-1, which was absolutely astounding, if not benchmark in my racing experience. I beaten a whole bunch of people I have never beaten before, including Gareth, my partner, who I hadn't hoped to beat for at least another year. Off the starting sprint, I was able to hold a line with the guys who came in first and second for about 2-3 minutes, which is phenomonal. Both of them are national champions, and one of them, Al, won the AuSable Marathon in Michigan, which is one of the hardest races you can do (120 miles, no stop, overnight, race two of the Triple Crown, all the top paddlers in North America, etc.) So that fealt REALLY good. The next day, with the C-2 race, we did rather terrible. For a change, I was in the stern (back of the boat) and had trouble balancing. We were stern heavy, so to fix it, I scooted all the way forward. It still wasn't balanced, and now I had just lost all my steering power. So both of us wore ourselves out by putting a lot of extra energy into steering, and since it was very shallow water and we were stern heavy, it was like a double disadvantage. We got eighth, we should have gotten fifth or fourth. But that's okay, I still got money to put away to the Youmacon fund, $51.00 USD. Mission: Success!

I got my drivers license finally, and on my first roadtrip, a friend and I picked up an eighties T.V off of craigslist for free. So now I can play PS2 in my room again. Huzzah! It also allowed me to drive to Kat's MST party last night, which was fun and great. We watched Bloodlust, starring Robert Reed, then Zombie Nightmare, starring the ever glorious Adam West.

My debit card finally came in, but paypal is being an absolute douche. So I still haven't paid for youmacon, but I should be able to soon. In theory, before the price raises above 40 bucks. I won't be able to do it within the next week, because I'm going to Michigan for vacation. I'll make a travelouge of the great Camp Michigania (cheesy name, but still a really great camp) where there will be sailing, tennis, and Dai Gurren flag-waving, and plenty of other things. I won't be able to canoe up there, or at least not with my canoes, because my grandma just went to the ER for stiches after falling down and hitting her head, so my aunt, who is the caretaker of my canoes, will be staying with grandma. Painus in the anus. Should still be fun.

And if you haven't watched it already, here's the Rengeroll I made. RedJ watched all ten minutes of it, which makes me believe he is a cyborg.

Off to make a flagpole for Gurren Lagann flag,

Once again, trends have degraded me.

Hey all.
A few days ago, I acquired Persona 4. I've been meaning to get this game for awhile, but never seemed to reserve enough cash whenever I went to Gamestop. Also, I had initially wanted to get Persona 3 first, and recommendation from a dude I know on Xfire, but the past several Gamestop visits I had never found it. So I said What the hell, spent 32 bucks, and got it, and told myself to beat it in seven days so I can get a full refund.
First, I was mad. Very mad. The intro to the game is long, boring, and sucky. The English VAs were cheesy, the initial story was repeated over and over again, and the only skill level required to get through the first two hours of the game was the ability to press the x button. However, Ryo ensured me that it gets better, that these shit intros were just how Atlus, the game company, do these kind of things, and that I should keep playing.
Well, it got better. The gameplay goes from pointless conversation to turn-based rpg gameplay, and it actually has a neat hybrid of sociality and action, as well as develops an obsessive need to check the weather. I had played the MegaTen mmo, so I was already familiar with the persona fusings, which is a cool element to the game.

Anyway, I'll give a final score once I beat the damned thing, which might not be in seven days, due to a trip to Peshtigo, Wisconsin I'm taking today, and not getting back till Sunday/Monday. It'll be Wisconsin canoe racing, so I'll get my ass handed to me on a carbon fiber paddle, but I was able to win money last year, so my hopes are up. Precious money that'll go towards potential Youmacon.

Speaking of Youmacon. I'm still not a confirmed goer, but I'm making an effort to raise the probability to 100%. I'll buy the prereg before June thirtieth at the least, when my debit card gets mailed to me. Hopefully, I'll be able to hold onto enough money that I make from mowing the lawn all the way to October, by which time I should have buttloads. So we'll see.
As for cosplay, I think I finally settled on an idea of what I would go as, considering I do go. Kastom, Mew, and I were in the chat room a few nights ago, and Kastom gave me a great idea. He said that the first con he went to, he went as Kastom, the original character. And I thought..."I could do that. I could totally go as Ryu!" Problem is, I need a character design, and there's no way in hell I'm doing it. I'll make it Katana's job to do a final sketch. I won't ask, it's just gonna be her job. :D But! I still need ideas, from you, the people, of what you think a Ryu OC would look like. He needs to be epic! Something that would actually make me work in terms of making the costume! Send me your ideas in the form of text/sketches, and I'll hand it all over to Kat, whether she wants to do it or not. I'm such an ass...

Found this in the cards section, wish I had thought of it first.

Hopefully be back for MST chat...

Do the impossible and kick logic to the curb.

As said in my last post, I am going through a Gurren Lagann relapse. Well, just a few minutes ago, I watched the fateful episode 8.
There's something strangley patriotic about this series. I can't get enough of it. Or, perhaps, it's a tangible visualization of the subconcious feelings of how I want to live my life. Episode 8 kinda peaks the emotion, and makes me post about it. I knew from the start that I wasn't gonna go anywhere with this post...but it makes me want to create something that is irreplacable with anything that anybody else could do.
