Welcome to my little corner of The Otaku!

Let me introduce myself. I sign my art as "Kasey-chan", so feel free to call me that. My interest in drawing started when my sister and I went down to the book store and we discovered How-To-Draw-Anime books. It took off from there.
When I'm not scribbling away I am pursuing work in theatrical properties, spending way too much time on Netflix, watching too much TV, and wishing radioactive waste really did give people superpowers.

Here's some of my favorite things :).

Anime: Miyazaki's works, Tokyo Godfathers, Astro Boy (2003)
Manga: Rurouni Kenshin and Hana Kimi
American Cartoons: Batman: The Animated Series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Venture Brothers, Gravity Falls, Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated
TV Shows: Merlin (BBC), Firefly, Mystery Science Theater 3000
Movies: The Secret of Kells, The Adventures of Tintin, X-Men: First Class, The Iron Giant, Muppet Treasure Island, Treasure Planet, RoboGeisha, Sharktopus
Books: Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey,Jane Eyre
Colors: Green!
Superheroes: Batman and Spiderman

Art Trades and Requests

I'm pretty much up for anything except yaoi/yuri. PM me .

It's been a while. . .

Well it's been a few months (I think) since I blogged here. I haven't been as active on this site (or even on my drawing) as I would liked to have been. The summer has been busy with job searching, which turned out successful, but left me with not as much time. I also am working on a senior project for next semester (my partner and I have to write a tentative script). So between the work, project, Rifftrax, and occasional outing with friends, my otaku life has ben dwindling. But I am determined not to give it up! Hopefully I can be more active and reconnect with some people :). And draw more :) :).

in honor of the upcoming Harry Potter movie, even though I'm not a super-fan and won't pay $10 to see it at 12AM with a bunch of people in black robes and Sharpied scars on their foreheads. Not my cup of tea and $10 for ANY movie is ridiculous. But I do like HP enough to post a pic :).

Vacation is over. . .

Had a great time traveling along the east coast these past few days :). We went on the beach a lot, went boating and saw dauphins, and ate some pretty awesome food (can't beat the delectable greasiness of boardwalk delights :D). Also did a little shell collecting and found about 5 pieces of sea glass, which made me happy because I never EVER find it. For a while now I've been collecting shells from all the beaches I go to and putting them on display in glasses, so it's always nice to add to the collection.
Now, however, the fun is over, and although I have a bit of time left before school, it's starting to hit me that summer is drawing to an end. Soon I'll be going 7:30am-10pm 7 days a week (the theatre school I'll be going to is pretty hardcore). Adding to my end-of-summer gloom is the fact that this is my last day with my twin before she goes off to Japan for a semester :(. Needless to say, today has not been the best day ever, but on the up side it's a gorgeous day. I hate to say it, but I am a little anxious for the semester to be over already, which isn't really a positive way to start haha. Oh well. Really all I can do is accept the changes and live in them to the fullest. Take everyday as it comes. This is a philosophy that's been pretty helpful to me over the years.
So in the meantime, schoolwork, mst3k, and hopefully social engagements will keep me in my usual happy, positive state of mind. I can also think of the upcoming semester as more of an adventure than an obstacle :).
Well that's all I've got. Here's a pic!

Have fun otaku-ing!

Summer is Fleeting

It's already August 11th and the summer is quickly passing by. sigh. I want more. I need more time! I still have school work to do and stuff to watch before I haul off to the intense theatre school. Even though it's hot, I think summer is my favorite season. I've determined that I like being hot. And summer just has this wonderful warm smell to it.
At any rate, I managed to get a fan art up and have 2 waiting to be photoshopped. In the meantime I want to work on stuff to scan so my computer is well stocked for the semester as I don't anticipate much drawing time. . . oh yeah. . . I need to get my printer fixed or get a new one. It jammed and never worked after that :/.
I also changed my avatar. As much as I'm enjoying mst3k (where my old avatar was from), I decided I should use a more anime-ish themed avatar. Since Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is the only anime I really watch nowadays, I figured I should use that. Plus it's so artsy, there's a ton of good avatars to be found in there :).
So yup I should get on that summer work . . . blech.
Since I'm thinking of mst3k, I decided to post this pic. It kind of reminds me of the show for some reason.

Lazy Summer Day

Hey All! It's been a little while since the last post and really not much has happened since. I started a job at White House Black Market, which is a dressy store that carries mostly black and white clothing. Most of it is super cute so I think I'm in trouble! Haha I'm not going to earn any money because I'll use it all on cute clothes :). Other than that I'm going to see a free Shakespeare play tonight with my sister and a friend, so that should be fun.
Art wise I got up two pics of my favorite cartoon characters. I'll probably upload a few individual ones so you guys can see the original, bigger versions of each character. Other than that, I've got 2 fan art gifts to draw and am working on my fan manga.
here's a fun pic haha i love that face :D

Have fun Otakuing!

I finally drew something :D

So I finally finished drawing for the art trades and gifts that I've been meaning to do for a very long time now. School is over, and I already have so much free time! Hopefully this means lots more art over the summer :).
So since the last update, Merlin was finished :(. I don't know what to do with myself, it's actually pretty sad. I am already anxiously awaiting the third season coming out in September. Augh! So long to wait! Oh well, at least I'll have new Venture Bros coming out this summer. There's also non-TV related events going on haha. This summer is looking to be a pretty good one :).
here's a fun pic, as always
