THE IMPOSSIBLE HAS HAPPENED! Inu-Yasha is over! Of course, I stopped reading it about three years ago, but I'm gonna read the ending.
Wow, that's an era gone. It ran for what? 13 years, hats off to Rumiko!
I finally sent an e-mail to the good people at Go-comi. I'm sure many of you have read I've been having problems with finding the release date for the next volume for one of their series that I read. This has been going on for at least a year so I sent out an e-mail.
Hopefully they'll get their act together...
What have I done to him? I've had him for like, three days and already I've scarred him for life! Poor Mr. Hero, not even in his 30s and already all messed up!
I now remember why I don't play action/adventure. I don't fight I'm not a fighter. I got Fable which I've wanted to do for like, since I heard of Fable, and now I'm freakin' pissed cause effing "Whisper" keeps beating me at killing troll thinngies.
Wraugh! Anyhoo I'm enjoying Mr. Fable/Hero/WhatEverHisNameIs and buying a mouse was the smart thing to do. Now I can actually see what I'm doing. Joy of joys!
Since, oh I don't know, October, I've been working on my first real original story. It started off as a school project and I'm very much still in love with its characters. However, here is my goal for ToI this summer.
The characters need fleshing out. Insomnis, the titular character, is a god. Not a lightening-throwing god, but a good of, yes, sleeplessness. I'd like to explore him further. He is part of the Grecian god household, being the Grandson of Nyx (Night) and Hypnos's son (Sleep). For my class I sent Insomnis off on a mythical adventure to find out why he can't fall asleep.
Part two of the story is set some 3,000 years since in modern day New York City were we meet an Insomnis who is not at all like his former self. He's a bit more bitter, a lot more sexual, and more well-rounded. From there we go backwards in time to Denver 1993, and we start to see how Insomnis changed.
He's been on this earth for more than 3,000 years and the things he has seen and experienced are far beyond my comprehension, so here in lies what my plans for this summer.
Me and Inny are gonna get down and dirty. I'd love to see him one day published, and I would love to write an actual book about him, even if all it does is sit on my hard drive. Before that can happen he and his costars have to be fleshed out. Insomnis's main companions on his adventures are Eros (lust) and Psyche (soul). There are reasons why these there are bound together and there are reasons why they've had huge disagreements. But most of all I really want to explore his insomnia. Is it something he's just become accustomed to? Is it something he's very bitter about? Does he envy others for their ability to sleep?
I'd also love to explore Psyche's background. She is one of the few mortals who becomes an immortal. Not only does she suffer the passing of time, but she has to watch her family die off. How does that change somebody? She also has a daughter, but since she can never age, how does that affect her ability to raise a child?
Blah, just wanted to get this all out. I feel like I need to brush up on my mythology and really talk this all out with somebody. I need to sit down at a starbucks and just hash it out with another intelligent person. I guess that's what a real writer goes to an editor or publisher for, but, alas, I don't have any of these things.
So there it is, the themes for my possible book. Immortality, insomnia, and the meaning of love and life. What a book it'll be....
