Hello, and welcome to Yamcha's Anime universe! Some of you may know me from visiting my Myotaku page (username: Yamchaa), but if you havent visited or dont know me, then thats cool too lol. Im a big anime fan and ive been one for as long as i can remember. I collect anime movies, magazines, figures, all things related to anime, and im proud to say that i have a pretty hefty and diverse anime collecion which is usually constantly growing, and with this new world i hope to make new friends and spread my knowledge of anime to whoever may need it ^_^
Ive been neglecting to post this week, so i figured today would be a good day to put up a post and let you all know what ive been up to lol.
I just finished uploading my first Youtube video lol. i know some of you dont even know what i look like in real life, so it may be a shock for some of you lol. Yesterday i was going through some unlabeled vhs tapes i had recorded on and i was labeling them and updating my MyAnimeList.net anime list. While i was rewinding and fast forwarding through the tapes, i came across a recording of the anime film/OVA called Macross 2: Lovers Again, which i thought i didnt have. To jog your memory about the movie - a few years ago i had set my vcr to record the movie from tv, but i must have gotten the tapes mixed up because this whole time i had believed that my vcr never auto-recorded it. Apparently it DID record it and it had been hidden along with the other unlabeled vhs tapes on my shelves. So while i was labeling the other tapes and watching Macross 2: Lovers Again, i figured id see if my webcam would record video correctly. This video is the outcome lol. It's just a few seconds long, but you get to see me in all my anime glory - still labeling anime vhs tapes the same why i always have lol. I was sitting on the floor, leaned back against my futon lol. You can see some of the tapes stacked up by my feet.
The thumbs up is for all of you guys here on Theotaku that keep me going lol
There isnt any sound in this video because i havent found my mic yet, but rest assured my next video will have sound :)
Othere than making that video, i havent been up to much.
On an ironic note, Recently i had been getting the strangest urge to watch the anime movie Castle in the Sky , and Sunday afternoon while i was looking it up online to find out little facts about the movie, i noticed that sunday was the 23rd anniversary of the film. Yes it was created August 2nd 1986, and it was so ironic and strange that i would get the urge to watch the movie on August 2nd 2009 lol. I was chatting with Xaos about the movie when i came across the info and he agreed that it was pretty cool and wierd as well lol.
Later that day i watched my vhs copy of Castle in the Sky and remembered just how awesome the movie is, was and always will be :)
Tuesday morning i bought Dragonball Evolution before i came home from work. i was weary about buying it, but my curiosity of how Yamcha was portrayed in the movie finally made me give in and buy it lol.
Here is my unbiased opinion :)
Overall it was an alright movie, there were funny parts, cheesy parts, and the fighting scenes were done ok. some of the characters were pretty cool - Master roshi was enjoyable to watch and so was Bulma lol. Goku, ill admit was hard for me to look at without laughing a bit, like it was inside joke or something, but i forgot about everything else once Yamcha popped up lol. I actually feel that yamcha was portrayed well in the movie. He had an attitude, street smarts, and he was pretty funny to listen to as well lol. As a whole - i didnt find anything that i hated about the movie, but i do feel that it seemed a little short and rushed. It was an ok watch and it gave me something to do while i was here at home being lazy after work :)
During the week ive also been playing Legends of Wrestlemania on Xbox360. I just have 4 more Achievements to unloack and ill have unloacked all of them, which is pretty cool. Last night at work, me and one of the guys i work with finally finished playing through Gears of War 2 , with CO-OP Campaign Mode. That has been really fun to, it has also been alot easier playing co-op because two human controlled characters can really do alot of damage thats for sure lol. Since we have beaten all of the other Xbox360 games i own, We will probably just play Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 until i buy the UFC Undisputed 2009 game again.
Other than that, ive basically just been taking it easy and being lazy lol. Since tommorrow is my birthday ill probably be extra lazy tommorrow lol. I always do something nostalgic on my birthday, so ill most likely find an anime movie in my collection that i havent watched in years and sit down and watch it while remembering the days when i first started my anime collection. One of the first anime series i recorded just came to mind, so i may just watch that tommorrow morning when i get home from work :) Ill be sure to post pics of the tapes i recorded that series on and tell you guys some nostalgic stories of the beginning of my anime collection too lol.
Earlier this week i also made some wallpapers, so feel free to check them out and let me know what you think lol.
Well, i suppose that will be all for today's post, i thank you all for visiting and i look forward to posting tommorrow on my 26th Anniversary LOL :) I hope to chat with you all soon :)
Since ive always been an advocate of the character Yamcha, i thought it would be a cool idea to share with you all some stuff thats been on my mind for years now, and ive always been keeping my eyes open for the right time and place to bring it up and i think this post is a good place to start to take a look at the character know as Yamcha from Dragonball/ z/gt
1. What is it that people and casual fans of Dragonball/z/gt dislike about Yamcha?
--He was such a vital and extensive character in the original Dragonball, constantly changing and evolving as the story goes on. In the original Dragonball, he probably had the most character development out of any of the characters - including Goku. His attitude changed and so did his appearance over time. His battle prowess would also take shape as the series moved on - allowing him to take place in multiple World Martial Arts tournaments. Although he would never find victory in these tournaments, people should at least admire his will and passion to compete and do his best right? People tend to see his humanity as a sign of weakness, but through each saga of the Dragonball Universe he always finds a place to shine, even though it may ultimately end in defeat. His human nature isnt his weakness, but his diverse trait that makes him who he is. We cant hate him for being a human right?
2. Style
----- Anyone that has seen Yamcha's features can automatically see that he has style. In my opinion, this is another aspect of his diversity among the group of Dragonball characters. Although his Styles and appearence would change multiple times throughout the series to follow, he always seemed to look cool and ahead of the curve. Im sure most fans will always remember him for his long hair, which he happened to pull off better than any of the other characters, and i couldnt help but notice that as the Dragonball/z/gt universe moved along - how some of the younger saiyans would at some point have long hair (Gohan, Goten, even Trunks at some points). I wouldnt say that they are copying Yamcha, but i do believe that the long hairstyle represents freedom - which is a style that Yamcha originated and still prefects to this day wherever he may be lol. He also represented style in his clothing, especially his orange Gi. His Gi happened to be more loose fitting, with no blue undershirt and he also sported different footwear than most of the other fighters, which really set him apart. Ive also read online of accounts that the symbols on his Gi had been placed differently than the others in a show of respect towards those who had trained him (though i am unsure of these statements). Regardless, no one can take Yamcha's diverse and one of a kind style away from him thats for sure.
3. Purpose
----In the original Dragonball, Yamcha's purpose was clear. He wanted to get rid of his fear of women. As Dragonball moved along , his fear of women gradually dissapeared, and his purpose moved along towards helping Goku on his adventures against foes, and everyday problems. He also found himself becoming a better martial artist with extensive training on his own and is often praised in the original dragonball by many of the other characters as "greatly imporoving" and always getting better. Though he would be humbled by losses at each World Martial Arts tournaments in the original Dragonball saga - He never gave up and he always kept trying to get better. His attitude never faultered. When Dragonball Z rolled around, it was great to see that he was as excited and outgoing as ever, especially on the baseball field (which also shows the good natured side of his humanity), and he always seemed to be the life of the crowd when he was with Goku and the gang. It was also great to see that his skills had increased as well, with the help of Kami, Mr Popo, Master Roshi etc. But as the Saiyans became more dominant in the battle for Earth which ended in his first death, His purpose took a pretty big hit. Though he would be wished back to life, He and some of the other Earthlings' purposes would never be the same or as important as the series moved along, being limited to comedic situations, or brutal attacks by new enemies. Yamcha was always there though, and i believe the Cell saga is where he would finall bring his purpose full circle.
4. Full Cirlce
----I personally believe that Yamcha's character came full cirlce towards the end of the Cell saga. Though most casual fans of Dragonball Z will often say that all he did was get beat up. What most fans fail to realize or even care to remember is that Yamcha (along with the other earthlings) took just as much punishment as Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo from the Cell jr.s, and at one point even teamed up with Tien to help Protect Goku. His display of courage would also shine when he and Tien would go back to Ground Zero to help Gohan against Cell - an action that meant certain doom, but they went anyways. Through these actions Yamcha showed passion, heart and the will of a Hero that people tend to overlook and after Cell was destroyed - He carried Gohan back to Kame's lookout to be healed (even though he was just as badly injured). I often say that this is when Yamcha came full circle, because he went from Helping Goku along his battles and adventures to helping Goku's son (Gohan) along his own, which culminated in a heartfelt speech about Goku after Goku decided he didnt want to be wished back. He had indeed come full circle - as a person and as a warrior. He had nothing to prove thats for sure.
5. Closing
--- I guess what ive always ultimately wondered is "Why do most people despise Yamcha?". Is it his carefree attitude? Or his choice to live and enjoy life? Out of all the characters in the Dragonball Univers, (besides Master Roshi) Yamcha is the only one that seems content with life, and is always out enjoying himself. He always has an upbeat and joking attitude about any given situation, which i believe is also an aspect of what re-defines him as a human. He has always been my favorite because he stands in the face of adversity with style, passion and his individuality, even though most people dont seem to care.
Though his uniqueness and purpose faded out as the saiyans came along, Yamcha will forever be adored by those who have followed his journey and appreciated his contribution to the World of Dragonball.
Im just about to go to sleep, but i just wanted to post real quick before i do :)
I havent been up to much this week, but i have been watching anime though :) Sunday i started watching the anime movie "Whisper of the Heart", but i stopped it about halfway through because i went to sleep lol. yesterday i picked up watching it where i left off, but i didnt watch much before i passed out and went to sleep lol. Today i finally finished it, and im really glad that i bought the movie because i actually really enjoyed it. Ive owned the dvd for about 3 - 4 years and i just recently took the time to watch it. I should kick myself for waiting so long to watch it, thats for sure.
Im holding off on my overall review of the movie until after i finish the anime film "The Cat Returns", which is a sequel of sorts - so that i can review and compare them both together in the same post :)
I started watching "The Cats Returns" today, but i wont be able to finish it until tommorrow, so hopefully i can get the review post up tommorrow :)
Here are the pics of my dvds of both moives! :)
The Cat Returns
Whisper Of The Heart
Im also hoping to post about some other stuff as well tommorrow as well :)
Yesterday i also managed to clean out my car and i went to the mall and bought a jacket im wearing for my friend's wedding that im going to next week The pic of the jacket is at the top of the post :). It cost quite a bit, but it looks pretty cool lol. In the process of cleaning out my car, i also found my DBZ Budokai 3 game that ive been looking for , for quite a while lol. I was starting to think that someone had stolen it lol. yesterday i played it for a little while and destroyed some people with Yamcha's Spirit Ball attack, and Tien's Tri-Beam Cannon, which are some of my favorite moves in the game :)
Well i hate to cut this post short, but im going to head to bed so i wont be tired at work tonight lol. I hope to post more tommorrow though, so be on the lookout :)
I thank you all for visiting and i hope to chat with you all soon :)
It's good to actually post today lol. I was planning on posting over the weekend, but i ended up falling asleep before i ever could, so i decided to do it this morning since i woke up so early lol (2am). I really didnt do too much this weekend, i worked on some wallpapers and spent most of my time getting around to other peoples' worlds and commenting and stuff like that. I also managed to try out the new Otakuchat, which was pretty fun, i even managed to pick up a new subscriber which brings the total to 11 now ^^ This world is also nearing 300 visits, which is pretty cool as well, especially for the pretty short amount of time that ive actually been working on it :) I certainly hope you all enjoy visiting, thats for sure lol.
This weekend I mostly played playstation, ate food and watched anime and movies lol. -
Berserk: volume 1
I watched Berserk volume 1 first because i had been wanting to make a wallpaper or two for this series. i actually enjoyed this dvd more this time through, it had been a couple of years since i sat down and watched it and i really seemed to appreciate and understand it, i guess because maybe im older now, im not sure lol. Im a fan of Medieval stuff, so this one will always be one of my favorites :) Be sure to check out my Berserk Wallpaper, especially if you are a fan, and let me know what you think ^^
I cant remember if i posted about this a few days ago or not, but i also bought Dragonball Z season 4which includes the COMPLETE Garlic Jr., Trunks, and Android Sagas. dont tell anyone, but while i was at work, I opened the package to check the episode guide just to make sure lol. For $34.99 I wasnt going to get swindled like i did with season 5 lol. So far i just need season 3 (The Frieza Saga) and ill have the complete DBZ series until the start releasing the Cell Games through the Buu sagas.
While i was watching the beginning of the Trunks saga, there was a scene where Yamcha was singing a song from a cat food commercial and it was the funniest thing id ever heard lol, and once i heard it, i remembered it as if it were 10 years ago lol. The song goes -
"Cat loves food, yea, yea yea", then he proceeded to tell everyone that he got it from a catfood commercial and that Puar hates it when he sings it.
Since then, i cant keep saying it, im not sure why its so funny, i suppose because he put so much effort into singing it, i wish i could post a voice clip on here, it would be great lol.
Id post a pic of the box art from season 5, but i havent scanned it yet. I know im lazy lol, im about to dismantle my computer and clean it, and then clean out alot of the pics i have saved that i dont use anymore because my computer has been acting kind wierd the past week or so. hopefully i can get it rolling smooth again :)
Yesterday i watched Die Hard 4 and i found that the Unrated version was sooo much better than the pg-13 version shown in theatres. I guess once youve seen R-rated movies, pg-13 movies just seem as if they are lacking, Im not one to judge though, I really enjoyed it, Im a big Die Hard fan lol.
Last night I had the luxury of having a friend's cousin send me a link to a website that shows wrestling pay-per-views in realtime for free lol. I got to watch part of WWE's Great American Bash PPV last night, bu due to my crappy internet service ther was alot of buffering and pausing, but i still had a great time. Im just glad CM Punk retained his belt lol.
Right now Im about to do some cleaning and some laundry, and then maybe create 2 more wallpapers. the next anime movie ill probably watch today might be
Castle in the Sky
This was the first Miyazaki movie i ever had the privelidge of watching, and to this day it is arguably my favorite Miyazaki film. They are all good, but for some reason maybe i liked this one the most because it was my first. Itsa beautiful movie, just sitting here thinking about it makes me want to start watching it lol.
Well, i think that will be all for today, i better get started on the cleaning, so i can watch some movies and then possibly work out a little bit before i have to go to sleep for work tonight ^^ I thank you all for visiting and i hope you enjoyed the post ^^ hope to chat soon!
Here i am again lol, Im sorry for the absence yesterday - I was pretty busy doing laundry and having the dubious task of cleaning out my closet lol.It took me about 4 hours to totally finish the adventure and when i finally finished, i was pretty beat - so i ended up being lazy for the rest of the day while doing laundry :)
Yesterday I also had some trouble sleeping. Im guessing it is because i slept all night sunday and the tiredness didnt really kick in until last night in the middle of work lol. Which reminds me - last night at work sucked bigtime. Mondays usually suck though, simply because i have to work 4 seperate areas, unlike everyone else in my area who only have to do 1 or half of an area. If my workplace was Dragonball, Id be the greatest fighter in the world LOL! Im usually easygoing while im at work, but last night was different. I was in a bad mood all night, plus my body was aching - which rarely happens. I figure the combination of lack of sleep combined with all of the food i ate yesterday had a badd effect on my sleeping and my capabilities at work lol. I was so glad when it was time to go home lol.
This morning on my way home from work i came to the decision that i needed to start working out again. Its been a while since i have and ive been noticing that im kinda getting out of shape, so i need to get started right away. Ill most likely start tommorrow if im not aching anymore that is lol. I gotta get back into Yamcha fighting shape LOL.
Other than that, I havent really been up to much. This morning i bought the movie Aliens and Aliens 3. Ive always loved the Alien movies, Im hoping i can find Alien Ressurection somewhere, thats one of my favorite movies of all time, right along with the movie called The Thing. I always believed they would all make great anime movies thats for sure! I also bought the newest issue of the Otaku USA magazine. Im starting to think that it is the new incarnation or version of the Newtype USA magazine i use to buy, because I havent seen the Newtype Magazines in a few months, so maybe they changed the name or something, Ill have to check it out and fill you guys in once i get some information :)
Just a few minutes ago i uploaded a new wallpaper. It's Yamcha and Bulma related, so if you are fans of that kinda stuff, you oughta check it out and let me know what you think :)
Well, i hate to cut this post short, but i keep dozing off while im typing, so i better head to bed lol, I dont want another night like last night. I thank you all for visiting and i look forward to posting more tommorrow, especiall on my videogame world about some videogame related stuff i bought sunday :)
