[At the next port]
Dia: Nyoron~ [holding Eddie while walking down a busy street] It don’t want to get rid of you. [snuggling him] You’re so darn cute…
Eduardo: Captain’s orders.
Dia: I know, but still…
Eduardo: [pats her head] It’ll be fine. You said you’d find a good home for him, didn’t you?
Dia: Yeah. You’re right. [smiles] Oh! [runs up to an elderly woman with a red shawl over her head] Excuse me, ma’am!
Woman: Kairiena? Is that you? [turns around]
Dia: Grandmother?! [runs up to her grandmother and gives her a hug]
Grandmother: How are you, child? My, you have grown! [notices Eddie] And who is THIS handsome devil? [holds the cat in her hands]
Dia: Meet Eddie! He’s a stray cat that followed me on board the ship.
Grandmother: Ship?
Dia: Oh, yeah! I forgot to tell you! I’m a mate on a ship now.
Grandmother: Really? Amazing! [notices Eduardo finally] Oh, my. Is this your boyfriend? He’s very hot, even in my old age. Though I’m sure he could be less scary.
Dia: Grandmother?! [blushing]
Grandmother: What? Am I wrong? That’s a shame. You need a good man in your life.
Dia: Y-you’ve got it wrong…
Eduardo: Miss Anafel?
Eduardo: [extends his hand] My name is Eduardo. I am a mate on the ship where Dia currently works.
Grandmother: [after shaking hands with Eduardo, she nudges Dia with her elbow] So~ He calls you Dia, eh~?
Dia: G-Grandmother!! [noticing Eduardo’s serious look] Uh, oh yes! Grandmother, since we can’t keep Eddie on the ship, do you think you could take care of him?
Grandmother: Of course! [takes the cat] Anything for you, dearest. [noticing the clock tower’s chiming] Oh, my. Look at the time! [smiles] It seems that I must get going. [hugs Dia] I’ll take good care of him. [winks at Dia] And take good care of the hot one too!
Dia: G-Grandmother!
Grandmother: [cackles] Bye, Kairiena! [leaves]
Dia: [facepalm] I’m sorry for how she acted. She’s always been like that.
Eduardo: It’s alright. Must be nice to have family like that.
Dia: [thinking] That’s right… he doesn’t have a family… [speaking] Uh, Eduardo. You know… [takes his hand] It might not seem like much but… If you want… [mumbles] I could be your family.
Eduardo: Too late for that. [looks over at her with a smile] You already are.
