After school ended, I walked out of the school wearing my normal shoes. I outstretched both of my arms above my head as my mouth emitted a big yawn.
"First day of school, I already have homework." I moaned out in irritation.
I stared up at the sky and gazed at the scenery. It was evening time, so the sky was a multiple of colors, mainly warm colors, like red, orange and yellow, but with purple and pink added to it. It was very beautiful sight. The sun was setting behind the horizon. I took my gaze away from the sky and decided to walk home.
As I walked down the sidewalk, I saw a brown box with a small kitten inside it across the street.
"It's the kawaii neko I saw earlier, on my way to school." I said aloud.
But I also noticed a guy crouching over the box. He wore the male version of my school's uniform. He grabbed the kitten and slowly picked up, raising it up in the air. The cute black kitten let out a "Meow" sound as he sounded pleased and satisfied. I saw the cat stare at me and "meow" again. I smiled warmly at him and waved my right hand. The guy turned around and I again widened my eyes. I couldn't believe it. It was Rin-san, but he looked different. His lips for the first time, married a big smile. I never could've pictured him in such a good mood. I felt my heart race again. The cat stared at me and meowed again. I guess he wanted me to come over. Rin stared down at the cat and then back at me. I gulped down the knot in my throat and crossed the street cautiously. My heart raced faster and faster as I got closer and closer to Rin. His eyes still pierced my eyes. My breath shortened when I stood in front of him, an inch apart from each other's body. I stared into his eyes as he gave me the cat. I kindly the cat from his hands and petted his head. The cat mewed and cuddled into my chest, purring. I giggled slightly at how adorable the cat was. Rin scoffed at me as he crossed his arms against his chest and turned his head.
"He only likes you because you have nice, soft breasts to cuddly in."
I blushed slightly, but gave him a teasing look.
"You're just jealous because the cat likes me more than you." I told him.
"Ha! You wish I was jealous!"
"No, I don't and for your information, he probably likes me because I visited him earlier, on my way to school."
He turned his head away again.
"Whatever, I guess that could be it too." He replied to me.
I giggled at Rin. For a delinquent, he acted like such a big baby.
"Anyways, we need to feed him. My house is 5 minutes from here. I guess you can come too." He kind of invited me.
I smiled at him warmly.
"I would love to." I answered him.
He stared at me, like he was surprised by my answer. It was like he was thinking I would decline or something. As if I would. Even if it wasn't really an invitation, it was an opportunity to go over his house. I wasn't going to let it slip from me.
Rin turned around and embraced the back of his head with both of his arms again.
"Follow me then."
"Nobody has been over my house, so I never expect company. My apartment might be a little messy." He warned me.
I shrugged off his warning. I mean, it can't be that messy.
As we arrived to his apartment, I dropped my bag in shock. I was terribly wrong. His apartment was a pigsty.
"I warned you."
I slowly and cautiously walked through his door, afraid I met get jumped on by something living under the clothes. I let out a huge sigh and held my forehead.
"Our cat can't live in this mess. I'm going to have to clean it up."
I threw my bag on his couch and rolled up my blouse sleeves.
"Alright, let's get to work!" I pumped myself up.
I turned on his radio and to my luck a good American song was on. It was Dangerously in Love by Destiny's Child.
I started singing along with Beyoncé as I quickly picked up his clothes and threw them in the hamper I got out from his room. I even pretended that his clothes were a basketball and the hamper was the hoop. I ran into his room and picked up everything that was on the floor and put them in their right place, organizing his room. I walked into his bathroom to clean it, starting with his sink.
I started dancing down the hall after cleaning his room and walked into his kitchen to wash the dishes. I was humming along to the new singer on the radio as I washed and dried the dishes.
I wiped the sweat from my face and grabbed his vacuum. I plugged it to an outlet in the main room and turned it on, determined to vacuum his whole apartment. It was a very nice apartment that should be kept clean and tidy.
I groaned as I lied on the open spot on his couch next to him. Rin was relaxing with his head back on the armrest, petting the cat.
"Very nice job. I can actually see the floor now." He told me impressed.
"Please, keep it cleaned up for now on. For me at least. Now for the cat, where's your bowl?" I asked him, changing the subject to the cat.
"The bowl is in the cabinet above the stove." He answered me.
I nodded and walked back into the kitchen, got out the milk from his refrigerator, set it on the kitchen counter and tried to reach for the bowl in the cabinet above the stove. I groaned as I strained my arms and legs, standing on the tip of my toes, trying to grab the bowl. I heard shuffling on the couch behind me and footsteps walking to my back. A hand was outstretched, reaching for the bowl I tried to grab. He grabbed and handed it to me. I stood back on my feet and stared into the eyes of Rin. His eyes stared back at me. This time they weren't angry eyes, but actually gentle. I took the bow from his hands smiled at him.
"Arigato", I thanked him.
He scoffed a bit and turned around and headed back for the couch.
I poured the carton of milk into the bowl, until it was just about enough for the kitten to drink. I placed the milk back in the refrigerator and walked over to Rin and the cat. I set the bowl down on the carpet. The cat jumped down from Rin's embrace and walked over to the bowl of milk. I sat down, crossed my legs as I watched him lick the milk with his tiny pick tongue. I grazed its beautiful black fur with my hair as it continued to drink the milk. Rin finally decided to join us on the floor.
"We should probably name him." I suggested to Rin.
He stayed silent, but eventually agreed to me.
I thought and pondered about a perfect name for him.
"How about naming him Kibou?" I asked Rin.
He thought about it too and nodded his head.
"That seems like a great name for him." He agreed with me.
"Then your name shall be Kibou." I said directly to the cat.
He mewed happily and yawned. After finishing the milk, he immediately went to sleep. His small back body was curled up in a ball as his tiny head rested against his leg. His stomach moved up and down in a steady beat as he breathed in and out normally. Rin gently picked him up and set him down on the couch's cushion. He pulled a blanket over Kibou patted it down.
