Drowning in Misery

Swimming in a pool
of sorrow, pain and grief.
Trying to stay afloat
Amidst the toiling, angry sea.

Writhing, squirming...
No longer free.
Struggle against the chains
Which bind and sheath...

Futile, it seems;
Your're trapped. Angry,
Seething.

Foaming at the mouth,
Unable to speak.
Your mind, a spinning mess.
Drowning in misery.

Nobody listens, nobody can see
All the dormant memories.
They can't hear the past,
the words spoken to me.

All the pain, sorrow, grief...
Passed down to me.
Engulfing me.
Ending me.
Ever....so slowly.

Gone, Forevermore...

Sore limbs,
Breaking bone,
Lights go dim,
He's coming home.

Throbbing feet,
Cracking joints,
Knees go weak,
He looks and points.

Beating heart,
Rapid pulse,
Turning with a start,
She grins on impulse.

Blinking twice,
Matching eyes,
Wraps like a vice,
Truth become lies.

Joy turns to sorrow,
Smiles to a frown,
Realizing her 'morrow,
Just turned upside down.

'Tis not the man,
In which she knew,
He doesn't give a damn,
How much she grew.

Nor how she loved,
How she waited,
He merely shoved,
And vacated.

Now she stands,
Alone and in pain,
Crumpled, she lands,
Her love now slain.

The man she loved,
Died in war,
Her once beloved,
Gone, forevermore.
