"Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man's growth without destroying his roots."

- Frank A. Clark

Hello, and welcome to Critics United*! This is a place for people serious about their craft; people who aren’t content with just being ‘average’ or ‘okay’. It’s for people who may already be talented, but who want to keep getting better. This is a place for artists of all skill levels, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been drawing for years – the only requirement is a passion for what you do and a drive to improve.

What is Critics United, first of all? Here’s the deal – it’s a community of driven artisans. Whether you’re an eCarder, or a writer, this is a place for you to request constructive criticism, or critiques, from a community of diverse people, all with the same goal as you – improvement.

All right, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, how does it work? Well, as stated before, this is a community, not a club. If you choose to join, you would subscribe to us, enabling you to receive updates from the Critics United World. You would sign up as an artist, or an author, or any combination of the given categories. You can sign up for other categories at anytime, as well as drop a category. As a member, you gain guest posting privileges, so if you’d ever like critiques to be given on your work, you’d post it up here, and your fellow members would heed the call and offer to you their constructive criticism. But again, this is a community, so everything coexists in a mutual relationship. If you expect members to give critiques on your work, then you have to actively participate in giving critiques on your fellow members’ work. If you fail to do so consistently, your guest posting privileges will be renounced until you can prove that you’re willing to put forth the effort. You get back what you put in, that’s how it goes.

So go ahead, and join now!

Art Critique

This is a traditional and digital mashup. I did a quick doodle in charcol and fixed it up and lighted up some of the hair and eyes useing photoshop. Its one of my few tries at a semi-realistic style.

External Image

I would LOVE any little help with drawing realistic (where things go, how things look ect), and with how to effectively use the traditional media. And any little thing you see as well.

Sorry that its not very clean- im very messy when I draw and didn't want to spend hours cleaning everything in photoshop.

Cheers!

eCard Critique Request.

HEY THERE FELLOW OTAKUITES.

I'm Kami-chan.x3, but you can call me Kami, "Amazing Kami-sama", Kami-chan, Mi-chan (given to me by the amazing SarahPatricia), Michaela, cat, lamp, whatever you prefer, I don't really care (as long as it isn't mean).

Anyways... I like to think I'm a professial when it comes to using Photoshop, but sadly, I'm still a self-taught newbie. I don't even think I understand half of the features that's on the program. It doesn't help that my dad recently got PS CS6 with even more tools and stuff. That's why I'm on Critics United. I need some advice on... everything I guess. See any flaws? COMMENT. You don't like the colors? COMMENT. You have an intelligent critique for the eCard? COMMENT. You want to become a three-eyed unicorn living in Manhattan, New York? COMMENT (please don't).

I made this on September 25th. I feel that there's... something wrong with the word 'GUN'. I was thinking, and maybe it's because the font is a bit too big. What do you honestly think?

Feedback is a beautiful thing.

THANKS GUYS! *HUGS*

Card Critique

Hi everyone! Call me Envy :D

I really need some help on improving my cards. I don't have any fancy photo-editors/can't use any (Photoshop, GIMP, etc.) so I make all my cards on Fotoflexer (for layers) and Picnik (for editing). Adding text is my largest problem. I can never find any text that looks good, and when I do, I go to save it and it sort of blends in with the image (yeah, I realize the text doesn't look very good with the image D:)
Suggestions?

UPDATED LINK

This is a photobooth picture BTW.
The first panel is Riza sitting up with a formal smile while BHayate is leaning in closer to the camera. I wanted him to lick the camera but didn't know how to draw it ;3;
The second panel has Riza with a more nonchalant/curious. She's supposed to be more informal by each panel. BHayate is doing something underneath; as you can see, you only see his tail.
The third panel, we see BHayate was putting on a mustache (don't ask) and shows it off to Riza. Riza is still sitting back thus BHayate is smaller compared to the first panel.
The last panel has Riza now warmed up and more informal in the photobooth they're in. I tried to make her eyes more smaller...like in anime/manga, y'know. Blushes and a hug is added to exemplify the more relaxed feel Riza has. We can all thank BHayate if you want.

Updated to now ask for critiques as a whole...especially on coloring.
Thanks!
Thanks to envythejealous for reminding me to talk about the art!
