“A favor for an old friend.” Jaden said as they walked towards the main common room for the soldiers.
The man smiled. “Really, I thought I was your only friend.”
Indeed Sai had become a friend in the past three years. He helped to fill the gap left by the absence of Lilly or Bastian. Jaden laughed walking into the common room. It was filled to the brim with men all talking or sharpening their weapons. As they passed the murmurs of ‘sir’ and ’my Lord’ echoed against the stone walls. A boy just at the age of manhood stood up putting his fist to his chest in a salute. “Commander.“ He said formally. Sai shot Jaden a weak smirk and patted the boy’s shoulder.
“Sit down Sid. Relax.“
The thick smell of tobacco and the constant roar of voices was cut off when Sai shut the door to his private dining room. His fingers pinched the bridge of his nose as he made his way to the leather chair in the corner behind a large oak desk. “The king put out a request for new recruits. I can’t keep up with the training of the initiates.” He sat down hard making the strong seat creak in the otherwise silent room.
“Why does the king need more soldiers?” Jaden asked tentatively leaning against the wall across the room.
Sai looked up from his desk and sighed. “Micael only tell me his father is being cautious.”
“You mean he is preparing because he doesn’t believe the Rizel truly want peace.” Jaden corrected wryly.
Sai nodded leaning back. “You above all know the king’s heart when it comes to your people.”
