He rushed to the maids wing of the castle where Lilly was staying and knocked on the white golden, ornate door. It opened but it wasn’t Lilly who was on the other side. “Mistress Clara. Can I speak with Lilly?” He glanced around the woman not seeing her.

“She isn’t able to take visitors as yet.”

His eyes settled on the woman before him. “Already in trouble?” He asked not completely surprised.

Clara crossed her arms. “Nothing I can’t handle Lord Jaden. Did you come to check on her?”

He sighed shaking his head. “No. Would you tell her I must leave on business but I will return by the end of the month?

She nodded. “Of course. Be safe.”

He bowed his head absently. “Thank you.”

She walked into the room after hearing voices. “Who was that?”

Clara turned from the door and regarded her. “Lord Jaden wished for me to tell you he will be away on business, but that he will return by the end of the month.”

Lilly rushed to the door throwing it open looking down the hallway but didn’t see him. She came back in and closed the door only to lean against it frowning. “I can’t believe he didn’t say goodbye.” But then he only left a note the last time, this time she at least hoped he would come back.
