Othien snickered behind her and Clara shot him a look that reminder her of her mother. “We’ll talk about this later.” She pressed her lips together and nodded. “Go on.”
Lifting her chin Lilly turned and went to one of the guards holding out her hand. The poor young man that looked only a few years older than her looked to his commander. Then reluctantly he gave her his sword. It was heavier than hers but it was balanced well. She stood before his partner who seemed like he was the youngest of the group. “The first error was this block.” She slowly struck forcing the boy to block as she expected him to. “But you can easily defeat it by doing this.” She twisted the blade sliding it up to the hilt of the other sword and leaned down, then came up with her elbow stopping right before she hit the boy’s face. The dress made her movements slightly harder but she managed. “Now faster.” She said to the boy who nodded.
She struck, he blocked, then smoothly she twisted and slid, then leaned and came up stopping only an inch from his nose. Then she stepped back to look at Othien who was watching intently. “You see?” She remembered Jaden’s lesson. You have feet and elbows and knees and they are just as much of a weapon as the sword in your hand.
“Do you know how to defeat the move?” He asked as if testing her.
“Of course.” She said in a matter of fact way. She turned back to the boy. “No when you block, simply slide your foot forward and place your hip in the way of the space beside your opponents leg. This way when I come in to twist and lean, you’re blocking me and the move is defeated.”
“It won’t work!” One of the other guards commented. “Your body will be open to attack.”
