“Ingelosi.”
Jaden got off and took Gavel’s arm in greeting. “Gavel, Krogh, Pippen. What is so pressing we needed to discuss it out here?”
The coppery haired Rizel glanced at his fellow elders and grimaced. “The soldiers are growing in number. Two more Amanzi tribes have been taken.”
“Are any of those who refused alive?” Jaden asked remembering being told about the decimated villages of Rizel. Hundreds dead for refusing to join.
“There was a boy, he ran after witnessing all of the warriors killed. But when we got there the elderly and children were…slaughtered as well. We’ve all brought the neighboring villages into our own for protection, but I’m not sure how long it will be before she attacks.”
“We Amanzi are equipped with great defenses but with the massive numbers she has attained. I don’t believe even we can hold out for too long if she decides to come at us.“ Pippen spoke up.
Jaden raked his fingers through his hair. “As I said before, we can bring our case before the king but unless there is a threat to Alura directly…..” He trailed off. They all knew the internal dealings of the Rizel were no concern of the king. That was one of the reasons the treaty was so important.
Krogh, the large Rizel sniffed angrily. “Of course he doesn’t care, we are nothing but savages to him. We don’t need the humans let’s just attack Ancubare and end this.”
