Jenny winced as she took on the monster’s attack. Blood dripped from her shoulder as she clutched it. She stood in front of Chero, preventing the monster from touching her.
“Tch…” she said.
“Jenny!” Mocha cried, moving to help her.
“Wait! You better stay put!” Francis said, blocking Mocha’s path.
“Sorry, Steve! But Chero is my “mommy”. I can’t lose her. So, you’re going to
have to settle with a bit of my magic!”
“…Did you just call it Steve?” Hime deadpanned.
“Miss Jenny! In front of you! Dodge!” Francis called.
“Kiki! Now!” Jenny shouted.
Kiki nodded, “Right!”
She closed her eyes and clicked her pocket watch. The monster seemed to freeze in time.
“It can’t be!” Chero cried.
Jenny pushed Chero back, so she landed in Dino’s arms. Chero winced, her face still concerned.
“Let’s go!” Jenny exclaimed.
“Chero?! Are you alright?” Dino asked her.
“Get your weapons ready and let’s fight,” Dante said, pulling his sword off his back.
Jenny looked over at Kiki who looked pale, “Kiki! You can stop now! You did great.”
Kiki made time move around the monster again.
“Awesome…Take it from here…”
She faltered and passed out.
Jenny, Francis, Mocha, Dante, Danni, Hime and Dino. They all fought together against the monster. Each wielding their own abilities to fight. To defeat it. Chero watched with her eyes wide. She hurried over to check on Kiki. Breathing…
She was ok…
The monster faded away.
“We beat it?” Hime questioned.
“For now…” Dante said.
Jenny and Mocha both bolted over to check on Kiki.
“She’s ok…” Chero said, “Just worn out. She needs rest. Messing with time uses a lot of energy…”
“I wish we had a better place for her to sleep,” Mocha said.
“…I see…” Dino said, “I’ll show you the way…”
“Blonde bishie say waaahhat?” Hime said.
“I’ve experimented several times, so I think it will be alright. Hime, you remember the thick metal door on the second floor right?”
“How could I forget?” Hime groaned, “It took forever to get you to come out of the closet!”
Dino’s cheeks turned red, “Bene….But I wish you would not say it like that. Let’s go there. I know how I can be useful now.”
Chero chewed her lower lip nervously and then spoke up, “Um..Listen.”
“Quickly, amore. We have to move because it is likely the thing will return soon…”
“Yeah…But…um…Jenny…Thank….you…” Chero said, smiling.
Jenny frowned, “I think you need to practice your smile. You can’t say that with that face.”
Chero closed her eyes and looked away from Jenny.
“Let’s go,” Hime said, patting Chero on the head.
