Chapter 7: Blind Date
“Rosa do you really think that his is a good idea setting me up on a blind date?” I asked as she pushed me into a changing room with an arm full of clothes.
“Yes, and it’s your birthday so you need to have some fun other then staying at home.” She stated. “Now when you have the first set on come out and show me.”
I laughed a little, “Of course.” And got changed into the first outfit.
It was a Blue top with a black leather collar, a black mini skirt, and a grey three quarter sleeve jacket that stopped just below my rib cage. I walked out. “Well what do you think?” I asked slowly turning for her so she could see how it looked.
“Hum…” After a minuet of thinking she shook her head no I don’t think so. The boy your going with doesn’t seem like the type to like this outfit. Though it looks good on you. You should get it at some point.” Rosa stated.
“When I have the money I probably will. I could easily use it for a cosplay if I wanted to.” I smiled and then went back into the changing room and got into the next outfit.
The next outfit that I cam out in was a pair of denim daisy duke shorts and a black bustier with a star charm on it. “We’re getting closer, but still not the right one. Keep going.” Rosa said.
I think I went in and out of that dressing room at least ten more times before finally getting to the last article of clothing that Rosa gave to me. I was a simple blue knit spaghetti strap dress with think black lining and a black loose bow for decoration. “Well this is the last one.” I mentioned and Rosa put her hands up in success.
“We found it! This is beautiful and it suits you so well. Oh he’ll love it!” She said with glee and she jumped up and down a little. “Now we just have to find a pair of shoes to go with it.” She said.
“Oh actually I have a pair of black Victorian boots at home from a cosplay that I did last year. I can use those.” I offered.
“Perfect! Oh I’m so happy that we found a good outfit for you to wear.” Rosa said skipping happily away from me to go tell her boyfriend Leigh that we found a dress for me to wear.
I laughed lightly and went back in and changed back into my normal clothes. Rosa helped me put everything away so that Leigh didn’t have to do it then I paid for my dress and I went home. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get any of my friends to budge on telling me who I was going on a blind date with on Saturday. Not even Kentin told me and I knew that he had to be in on it since he was in that group discussion on Wednesday. Oh well I guess I will just have to wait. Rosa told me that my blind date would be there at ten in the morning to come and pick me up for us to spend the day together.
Saturday came a lot faster then I thought it would. It was almost ten and I was just finishing up with loosely French braiding my hair and letting it rest on my left shoulder. I actually put on a little bit of eye shadow. I wasn’t going to do anything fancy or over the top to try to impress the guy I just wanted to have an enjoyable day with whoever I was going to be spending my birthday with.
I heard a knock at the door to the apartment and I came out of my room. I wanted to get to the door first but my aunt beat me to it. When she opened the door I was absolutely surprised with who was standing there.
“K-Kentin, you’re my blind date?” I asked looking at him up and down. He was wearing a black t-shirt with his dog tags from military school, Faded blue jeans with his military boots. He looks really nice even though it wasn’t that big of a change in clothing but it still was simple and nice.
“Happy birthday Rain.” He smiled and handed me box that was about the size of a shoe box. “You look beautiful.”
I took the box from him and smiled back happily. “Can I open it before we go?” I asked.
“We still have fifteen minuets till I was actually supposed to be here so I don’t see why not.” He answered.
We went to my room and I sat down on my bed before opening the present. It was in a shoe box when I finished unwrapping it. I was a bit confused until I opened the lid and saw about four stacks of letters rubber band together. I looked up at him surprised.
“These are all the letters I sent you while I was in military school. I was able to get them from my father’s office. They always belonged to you.” He told me.
I set the box down on my bed and got up and hugged him. “Thank you, I love it.” I felt him wrap his arms around me.
“Your welcome.” He said.
I pulled away from him. “Well I’m yours for the day, but why didn’t you tell me that it was you I was going on a blind date with?” I asked as we walked to the door of the apartment. I said bye to my auntie and made sure I grabbed my keys before we left.
“Because what fun would a blind date be if I told you?” He asked me in return.
“Well what do you think of the dress that Rosa help me pick out?” I asked him.
“It’s nice.” He answered which made me frown a bit.
“You don’t like it.” I sighed and looked down at the ground as we walked.
“No Rain that’s not it. I like it. It looks beautiful on you but it doesn’t matter what you wear because you are always beautiful it doesn’t matter what you wear.” He explained in a kind voice.
I blushed but I didn’t try to hide it as I hugged him suddenly and he put his arm around me to hug me back. I didn’t have to say anything I think he understood how I felt. “So where is my blind date taking me today?” I asked him letting go and walking next to him again.
“Well I was thinking maybe a movie then maybe get some lunch. Or we can reverse that and get food first and then go see a movie.” He stated.
“Why don’t we go watch a movie and then go and get lunch?” I offered.
He nodded, “Alright lets do that.” He agreed and we wandered to the movie theater and instead of seeing some sappy chick flick like all other dates go we went and saw the new Disney movie that just came out. Hey when you grow up with Disney movies your going to want to see the new Disney movie when it comes out in theaters.
~*~
“That was amazing. I did not see the act of true love being the sisterly love.” I stated as we walked out of the theater.
“And that Hans was a bad guy. That was a plot twist.” Ken added in.
“Now I want to get the sound track.” I laughed. “Those songs were so catchy.”
“I would want to see it again.” Ken mentioned but then my stomach growled and I blushed. “I guess we should get something to eat first.” Ken mentioned.
“That sounds good. Lets go to the Terra Cotta for lunch. They have some good food there.” I mentioned.
“You’re the birthday girl. We can go where ever you would like to go.” Ken said.
I took his hand and we walked to the Terra Cotta hand in hand. His hand was so much bigger then mine. It made me feel safe. I’m glad that he was the one that everyone set me up with. With Amrin we probably would have gone to the arcade all day and with Lysander well I don’t really know what we would have done to be honest. Probably sit in the park under the tree and relax as he wrote in his notebook. When I think about it Kentin was and still is the closest that I’m to and we still have a good amount in common. I was excited to read his letters but that could defiantly wait till later. Right now it was about us having a good time together.
