Author's Note: Two year's ago, I wrote for theOtaku.com, a guide to the "Space Battleship Yamato" (Star Blazers) franchise, mainly focusing on its 1970s and 1980s installments (which are known together as the "Classic Space Battleship Yamato" saga). After attending an English subtitled-screening of "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" (2009) at the 2010 Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, I decided it was time to write a guide to the movie itself so that you, the people reading this, will get to know more about the legendary Sci-Fi franchise Anime producer Yoshinobu Nishizaki created. So, get ready to blast off and discover everything there is know about this epic movie.
Released on December 12, 2009 and produced by Yamato Studio and Enagio for distribution by Toho Company Ltd. of "Godzilla" fame, "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" (whose Japanese title "Uchuu Senkan Yamato: Fukkatsu Hen" literally translates "Space Battleship Yamato: Rebirth Chapter") is not only the 5th movie of the "Space Battleship Yamato" (Star Blazers) franchise made for theatrical release, but also the first "Space Battleship Yamato" movie Yoshinobu Nishizaki worked on without the involvment of Leiji Matsumoto (creator of "Captain Harlock", "Interstella 5555", and "Galaxy Express 999"), who was responsible for the character and mechanical designs of the "Space Battleship Yamato" Anime from the 1970s and 1980s.
