I sighed when we got to the site. There certainly were a lot of tanuki, but this was baby stuff. Why did Sensei have us doing this? The kids could do this task easily. "You really brought us out here to kill a bunch of raccoon dogs?"
Sensei sighed. "Not all missions are hard. Not all fights lead to glory. If we had a demon with calming powers I would have taken them and left all of you back at the school. I don't like having to kill them either. But we can't have them drawing attention from humans."
It wasn't their fault...the humans pushed them out of their home. This was not the mission I had been looking forward to. Sensei placed his hand on my shoulder. "Why don't you take this chance to teach Trinity? Such an easy mission should allow you to keep your head."
My eyes narrowed. "It wasn't my idea to stick me with a kid." Sensei smirked. "No. But I was hoping maybe she could teach you some things." I crossed my arms and stalked off. The other groups were already working on the problem. Trinity followed behind me. "I'm sorry I seem to bother you." I glared at her. "You don't bother me!" She flinched at my raised voice.
Shit. It wasn't her fault. She doesn't know about last year. I closed my eyes and counted to ten. "Why don't you pick a target and show me what you can do?" She nodded. I bit my finger and drew a rune in blood on my chest. That allowed me to draw my scythe. "I will watch in case you need help. But I think you will be ok." She started off toward a small group of tanuki. Guess I will see what I have to work with
