KyraChan's Top 70 Countdown 2

60 - 51

60. Death Note OP 1 - "The World"

TV Version | Music Video

I could not, in good conscience, leave Death Note off of this list. After it all, it was my first anime (er, manga) obsession. Then again, it wasn't all that hard to justify putting this on the list. I still remember trying to memorize the English translation to the lyrics, because of how cool I thought it was. Of course, the duality of the animation is good, too. Even with nostalgia aside, this is a great opening.

59. Amnesia OP - "Zoetrope"

TV Version | Full Version

Well, I've brought up my favorite romance anime, now it's time for my favorite harem/reverse harem anime and its gorgeous opening to shine. This opening is colourful, emotional, and shows off the boys quite well. But even beyond that, it still holds true to the other part of the show - mystery. It balances its romance and mysterious aspects, and that's what makes it so good.

58. Now and Then, Here and There OP - "Now and Then, Here and There"

TV Version

Part of me is still a little baffled at how this opening still makes these lists - and it's not like it skirts by, either. There's just... something about it that reminds me so much of the show it represents. Maybe the fact that it is so simple is what helps it get the feel of the show - like the show, it's not trying to be flashy, it's not trying to be epic, it just shows it how it is, sadness, hardship and all. And maybe it's the fact that I'm so attached to the show, and what it does, that makes it keep on getting on this list.

57. Angel Beats ED - "Brave Song"

TV Version | Full Version

I've praised the lyrics to this song, and I'll praise them again. They combine sorrow with nostalgia so well, and help bring back all the feels from the show. I mean, it's actually kind of hard to listen to this song right now with crying. Like, holy cow.

56. Rampo Kitan OP - "Speed to Mosatsu"

Holy cow, the art direction in this. With layers of simple animation, live-action-ish footage, the grunge feel, the lyrics, the butterflies, and the insane amount of skulls in it, I absolutely love everything about the art in the opening. The music's great, too, fun to try to sing along to ("try" being the key word here). I'm glad this opening made the spot that it did.

55. Paradise Kiss ED - "Do You Want To?"

TV Version | Music Video

You didn't think I would leave this list without including two things from my favorite romance anime, did you? To be honest, it's this ending that made me want to watch the show in the first place. And I'm glad I did. The ending represents the show quite well, still having the haute couture feeling, but adding in an extra bit of spice, comedy, and a more relaxed atmosphere. It's a bit ridiculous, but that's what makes it so much fun.

54. Erased ED - "Sore wa Chiisana Hikari no Youna"

TV Version | Piano Version

I hadn't paid much attention to this ending until I heard the piano version. After that, I couldn't get that melody out of my head, it was just so beautiful. Of course, when I looked it up for this list, I couldn't get the animation and the massive amount of symbolism in it out of my head, either. But most of all, I think I love the lyrics. It connects so well with the anime, and brings it so much meaning. It truly is a beautiful ending.

53. Durarara!! ED 1 - "Trust Me"

TV Version | Full Version

This ending is iconic, I kid you not. I had seen the image in this ending applied to so many other fandoms before I even knew where it was from. It's iconic for good reason, too - it's a good way to show off the massive (and ever-growing) cast of the show, all with a completely catchy song playing. Trust me (joke intended), it's an utterly fabulous ending.

52. Tatami Galaxy OP - "Maigoinu to Ame no Beat"

TV Version | Full Version

Speaking of really catchy songs, this one definitely fits in that category. This is such a fabulous opening for one of the most praised anime of all time - and it does that anime justice. It's simple enough, but still will have you singing and dancing to it. And, at the end, once you realize what you're really watching... man, that's a cool feeling.

51. Aldnoah.Zero ED 2 - "Aliez"

TV Version

MKAliez is the most epic anime background OST out there, in my opinion. Well, too bad it's a background soundtrack, and not an OP/ED...but wait! It is! While the two songs aren't exactly the same, this ending still carries the necessary elements to create the same epic feeling that MKAliez. Of course, the fact that it has some decent visuals to add to the epic range doesn't hurt, either.
