Mistborn

Brandon Sanderson is my new..or I should say current.... favorite Author. He wrote the Mistborn trilogy.

Now Mistborn has one of the most original system of magic that I have ever heard of. It is based on Allomatic metals that are burned in the user's stomach. Sounds gross? Well I guess. But each metal gives the user a certain power. Like Pewter. It gives the person strength. Copper is like a radar blocker for the other allomancers that are trying to detect you using the metals. It is a fantastic series of books that has love and plot twists and in the end a religious undertone that isn't at all overbearing. The ending is a surprise...as all of Mr. Sanderson's book are.

I know I haven't been up here lately. If you'll forgive me but I've been working..and working hard... on my writing career. That seems to be going slower than I had originally planned. But none the less its going. I've all but given up on putting up my stories here. It's mostly fanfic..and even though there is nothing wrong with that... I've found an audience that likes my stories. But I'll keep coming on here to let you know about books I think are worth a read. I'm going to try to do a few more reviews up here on some of Mr. Sanderson's books. Like Elantris and Warbreaker. Both awesome reads.

Also when inspiration comes back for my art I'll begin posting them as well.

Until then my very small audience and my friends. I will be back. Soon I hope..

Clockwork Angel

Cassandra Claire...yes the same author as I've mentioned before that wrote the Mortal Instruments series has a new book coming out in September.

It's called Clockwork Angel. It takes place in the same world as Mortal Instruments but it's more like a prequal. This is the first installment of Infernal Devices. I'm absolutely ecstatic about this. Though I have to admit the thing I'm most excited about is the reappearance of a character that was in the first three books. His name is Magnus Bane, a warlock...who is by the way gay. But he is also funny and dark in places. Beside his sparkly attire and interest in a shadow hunter named Alec Lightwood, he is well awesome! You have to read it.... to enjoy it.

Here is a link to an exerpt from chapter 8.

Just a taste

Here is an exerpt from my up and coming book.....just the first of many..

“I’m not sure what I should be looking for anyway.” Jared said throwing another brochure at her hitting the back of the one she was reading.

She put it down and looked at the one he discarded. They all looked the same to her. The smiling faces and good looking teens all wearing perfect cloths and even one had pictures of the beaches near the college where there were girls in bikinis. “You sure you don’t like the surfing college?” She asked throwing it back at him. He was lying on his bed his head propped up on pillows. He rolled his eyes putting the brochure aside.

“Oh yeah I can just imagine me surfing and getting attacked by a shark. My leg getting bitten off…” He paused then began in a softer tone. “At least my mom might notice me.” He sat up leaning on his knees. “Maybe I should just take a year off like you. It’ll give me time to decide.”

Giving him a skeptical glare she said. “You just want to go with me.”

He shrugged his shoulders. “Is it so wrong to want to go to college with your best friend? Maybe I’d miss you.”

Suggestion

I have a few more books I'd like to do a review for and they are books that I love..But this world isn't just about me. So if anyone has a favorite book. Let me know. I want to guage what genre clicks with you all. So give me some ideas. It's always good to broaden your horizons.

By the way.

I'm sure you know by now I have a book in the making. For some who might like it it's called Unbreakable Bonds "Destiny's Bridge" As I post on this world I'll give clips and clues to what it's about.

Mortal Instruments by: Cassandra Clare

First of all I've read all three that she has out so far. And for anyone who wants the drama of Twilight with more action and a little less romance this is a great series. She's working on more form what I hear and I can't wait.

The first book is called 'The City of Bones'.

Here we meet Clary Fray the star of this incredible series and her best friend Simon. They start off in a club and that is where she witnesses a murder, one no one else sees. I love this series because it takes a new look at angels and demons. Shadowhunters protect the world of the Mundanes(Humans), vampires and werewolves are simply the progeny of demons breeding with humans. The fairy folk and other mythological creatures from the classic tales we all grew up with are put in a new light.

With Clary's mother kidnapped by demons. Clary finds herself finding out she isn't as normal as she thought and the world she thought she knew was gone. Her friends SImon gets pulled along for the ride and is presented with e new rival for Clary's affection. The newest Hottie on the scene. Jace. Oh he gives Edward Cullen a run for his money. With golden curls dangling in his golden eyes he is by far the best leading man I've read in any series. He's dark and tormented and sexy.

If you read this book be prepared to read them all becuase you won't be able to not know what happens next. I know I couldn't.
