Clockwork Angel
Cassandra Claire...yes the same author as I've mentioned before that wrote the Mortal Instruments series has a new book coming out in September.
It's called Clockwork Angel. It takes place in the same world as Mortal Instruments but it's more like a prequal. This is the first installment of Infernal Devices. I'm absolutely ecstatic about this. Though I have to admit the thing I'm most excited about is the reappearance of a character that was in the first three books. His name is Magnus Bane, a warlock...who is by the way gay. But he is also funny and dark in places. Beside his sparkly attire and interest in a shadow hunter named Alec Lightwood, he is well awesome! You have to read it.... to enjoy it.
Here is a link to an exerpt from chapter 8.

Another Taste
Another glimpse as the day when this gets published draws near. I'll let y'all know when it comes.
“Do you know what kind of flower this is?” She asked crouching down to touch and take in the flower’s scent. Carefully kneeling down beside her he plucked one while she watched him. The six petals curved around each other like an embrace. He remembered when he was young, his mother told him that it was her favorite flower because it represented family bonds and love.
“It’s called the fire flower.” Before she asked him why he held it over his hand and a flame sprung up engulfing the flower’s blossom. He glanced at Jinee’s face to see the reflection of the fire in her eyes as she stared entranced. Then as sudden as the fire came it vanished and he gave her the flower untouched or even singed, she took it. “It’s fireproof. “ He said automatically. Her smile grew and she bit her lip in a child like expression of pure joy.
She cradled the flower in her hand and stood up he followed when she turned her back so she didn’t see him holding his side. “I love this place.” He heard her say as if to herself.
“It’s not over yet.” He said making her turn. He pointed down the narrow ledge pathway and she looked down.
She stretched her neck out to look down but didn’t move her feet he noticed her neck flash and her brows strained with fear. “I don’t know it looks dangerous. “ He went to her and took the flower placing it in her hair and she looked at him her mouth hanging slightly open as if she was about to say something. He took her hand regretting it as soon as he did, he could feel her pulse thrumming, her cool skin sent flashes of heat through his body.
