“B-But…” I started.
“No way, I could trip on this stuff, it’s a health hazard.” He said firmly. I pouted but he crossed his arms.
“Alright alright, it is your hair now after all. And I’m just glad I got to see you with long hair.” I said as I twirled a strand of his hair gently around my finger.
“Hey, I’m supposed to do that to you.” He couldn’t hide his small smile from me. Knowing he was jealous made him that much more loveable to me. We got back to the house thankfully without incident. It was dark and Takumi had to guide me because I couldn’t see anything, but apparently he could see just fine with those sexy new feline eyes of his. As soon as we got inside, he went straight to the bathroom and closed the door. So he was serious. I sighed softly and then went into the kitchen and made us up a few sandwiches since we hadn’t ate anything since lunch, and it technically was past the time we normally ate dinner. After a few minutes he came back with his hair looking a bit more normal, maybe a tad longer than it was before. Maybe he was thinking of me as he was hacking away at it. I smiled and handed him his food and we ate rather quickly. I then locked eyes with him and grinned.
“Guess what?” I asked him.
“What is it?” He asked. I answered him by jumping up and racing upstairs to his bedroom and pulled open one of his dresser drawers. I pulled out a small wrapped box and waited for him to come up and in with me.
“I know we said no gifts, but you know me. I know it isn’t much, but, happy anniversary.” I smiled and handed him his gift. He chuckled and reached into his side table near his bed and held out an even smaller box to me.
“Happy anniversary. I hope you like it.” He said. I laughed a little.
“I guess that makes us both liars.” I said. He smiled and I motioned for him to go first. He carefully unwrapped it. I got him a bellybutton piercing. “I know you don’t have it yet, but you’ve mentioned it before and you can get it done sometime after you get your tongue done.” I smiled. It was silver with a little fish skeleton charm. Punkish but not too much.
“Thank you sweetie.” He smiled at me, and then I unwrapped my small box only to be met with the local jewelry store’s symbol. My heart raced as I carefully opened it, and out of the corner of my eye I could see Takumi’s tail swishing anxiously. I blinked and then put my hand over my mouth when I saw the necklace. It was a small heart made of diamonds and a fancy, thin chain.
“I-Is this real?!” I asked. Takumi nodded.
“Do, do you like it?” He asked. I shook my head. This thing must have cost him a lot.
“No.” I told him. His ears dropped cutely and he looked devastated. But I leaned in and hugged him tightly. “I don’t like it, I love it so much. Thank you Takumi, no one has ever given me something like this before.” I said, feeling like I was on a cloud.
“I’m so relieved…” He sighed. I must have given him a heart attack and I just laughed.
“Did you really think I wouldn’t like it?” I asked him and he squeezed me just a little bit tighter.
“Well, I was just nervous. You should have seen me in there picking something out, I was like a fish out of water.” He muttered. The image of him in an expensive jewelry store, being persuaded and talked to by a jeweler entered my head and I burst out laughing. “H-Hey now, it’s not that out of the realm of reality is it?” He asked.
“No, no it isn’t. I just can’t believe you did this for me.” I blushed.
“You know, you suddenly just got a little warm. I don’t even have to look at you to know you’re cheeks are glowing.” He said in my ear. Which just made me blush more. He gently kissed my ear and then his lips slipped to my neck. “You’re wearing the perfume I bought you.” He muttered. I forced myself to swallow, and to breathe again.
“Y-Yeah, anything to make me a little more attractive…” I said softly as my heart hammered away. I felt him smile and he brought his lips to mine and kissed me tenderly. When we pulled away he glanced at the clock.
“It’s getting late, and we need some sleep. You’re already swaying.” He chuckled. I nodded. He had started to get me worked up, but I kept myself in check and smiled.
“Alright.” I said. I grabbed my pajamas and went into his bathroom and changed in there. I wasn’t about to start anything right now, I didn’t think I could handle anymore life changing things tonight. So I came back out and crawled into bed, Takumi wrapped his arms around me, and we fell asleep.
