Ghost

Chapter 14

I sighed as I watched Vera go into the house to get cleaned up. The fact that she was bleeding really bad didn’t even phase her in the slightest. “She’s a weird one alright.” I crossed my arms and chuckled, “But who am I to talk about weird.” I smiled and disappeared before wandering back into the house.

When I found Vera she was in the bathroom with her mother as her mom was helping to clean her up. I went back into the attic for a while and looked around at the mess that was up here. I haven’t looked into the boxes in a long time. “I guess I’ll clean up a little bit.” I muttered as I picked up one piece of clothing at a time and placed them back in the boxes. I ended up stopping with what I was doing when I saw something that I thought was long gone. It was a music box. My mother gave it to me when I was little. I picked it up and looked at it.

“Oh there you are.” I hear Vera say and I looked over at her. “What are you doing up here?” She asked getting up into the attic the rest of the way.

“I was just cleaning a little. I may be dead, but I don’t think I’ll ever kick the habit of being able to do nothing when mess is left behind.” I smiled a little

“What’s that in your hands?” She asked coming over to me.

“It’s a music box. My mother gave it to me when I was little.” I laughed a little bit. “I was so afraid of the dark I would have a hard time getting to sleep. So mom gave me this music box and the music calmed me and let me fall to sleep.” I explained.

“That’s so cute! You were afraid of the dark.” I looked over at her and she had her hands cupped together and was all sparkly eyed on me.

“How is it cute?” I asked here a bit confused.

“Most people won’t admit that they are afraid of the dark.” She smiled happily up at me.

“I’m not afraid of the dark anymore.” I told her. “At least, I don’t think I am.” I muttered looking at the music box again.

The gold design was simple and I’m sure if the box was polished up it would look beautiful. “Were you afraid of the dark Vera?” I asked but I didn’t get a response and I looked over to see that she was going through another box and clothes were flying everywhere again. “Hey Vera!” I shouted a little a bit frustrated.

She poked her head out to look at me. “Yes?” She asked blinking at me.

I sighed and my shoulders slumped. “It’s nothing, never mind.” I said setting the music box down.

“Oooh what’s this?” She asked pulling out a think black book.

“That’s my photo album.” I told her floating over to her as she opened it. “It looks like the pictures are a bit worn out though.” I said a little sad.

“Oh I can fix that. This is an easy fix.” Vera said.

“Vera dear who are you talking to?” Her mom called up to us.

“You can tell her if you want to.” I told her. “If she believes in ghosts she should be able to see me if I let her to.”
