Karu looked at the clock. "Ice, I know you want to read with me, but it is very late at night. I should be asleep now." Karu placed the bookmark in her book, got into bed, and went to sleep.

The next day, she woke up, brushed her teeth, got dressed, and headed outside. Karu ran to her friend, Tomoyo's, house. Tomoyo was a tall teenage boy with medium-length wavy, black hair and green eyes. He had light skin, but it was relatively dark for light skin.

"Hey, Tomoyo! How's it going?" Karu said. "Good," he sighed, looking away. "Do you want to go eat somewhere?" "Sure," he said.

They got some food at a restaurant and left. Karu brought a book with her, and read it all the way to Tomoyo's house.
