There's quite a bit of symbolism in this...and since he's not that well known of a character, I suppose I'll explain a bit, ne?
He is a samurai. Not just that, but one with LOTS of Honor. Thus his quote. The Kanji in the background also serves as symbolance to that aspect. I picture it as a final letter to one's family before entering a battle, or even a long poem. (samurai would often do this) Also, the Red sun beams which symbolizes the country of Japan. The Land of the Rising Sun. <3 There are stains on the beams...because unfortunately, Mitsunari's dream was never achieved. T-T
Hmm...well I hope that explains it a bit. Basically...I love him. He's such a sarcastic character with a lot of depth, but he's usually outshined by other more popular characters in the series. The series itself is fairly overlooked as well. But I adore it! <3
