I pushed back my chair, spoke to Mr. Turner and left. To escape the monster that was Trinity.
Kiley met me outside the Geometry room and looked at me with her sorrowful eyes. “What happened?”
‘This girl she… she smelt too good… I had to get out of their before I completely massacred the whole class and drank her dry. That trip just keeps sounding better and better.’
‘Is she alright?’
‘Yeah, just a bit worried about me. That’s it.’
‘t’s alright Marcus; just do what you think is right.’
I gave my sister a hug.
‘Thank you Kiley, you truly are the only one who understands me and my troubles. I love you.’
‘I love you too Marcus,’ She broke the hug, took my shoulders and stared me in the eyes.
‘But if being here is too much for you I will gladly leave with you. I would even leave Stephen behind just to make sure that you were ok.’
She hadn’t left Stephen in decades. Ever since they laid eyes on each other they have been happy as can be and I’ve always been happy for them. But could she leave Stephen for me? I doubt that. I graced the wall with the tips of my fingers and started outlining her face in the plaster before I smudged it away.
“No.”
‘What do you mean?’
“I love you too much to let you waste your immortal life protecting me. I can take care of myself.” I turned around and went back to class.
She was sitting there, sulking. But her face lit up when she saw me enter. I gave her a smile and went back to my seat. The blood was pulsing through her veins at an advanced speed. I sucked in as much air as I could before I sat down.
“Are you feeling better now?” She looked at me with worried eyes,
“Yeah, much better, thanks.” I gave her a whole smile now.
Her heart started fluttering and her breathing increased. Was she afraid? Her eyes told me nothing. Those deep emerald eyes… then I had a premonition.
I was running. No… I was flying. Her scent all around me, something warm running down my throat and I felt the same warmth on my face. I stopped. Looked all around me and then down at the thing in my arms. It was her… covered in blood… her blood… and she opened her eyes and they were… RED.
“NO!” I screamed as I stood up, which sent the ugly chair I was sitting in against the wall, and I looked around.
