Price of Freedom 2

I told her we would run away. I wanted to take her out of the city to the country. I could hunt for food. No one would bother us there. I wanted her to quit her job and leave everything to me. She had agreed. We were going to be parents. We didn't tell Leo. He wouldn't have understood. But soon he would be a big brother. She was 2 months when she told me.

I spent my days packing things up and helping Alice around the house. She did research trying to find a place for us all to live. When she finally found it I remember how happy she had been. It was finally time to move. Alice was now 6 months along.

"Oh he kicked!" I placed my hand on her tummy and felt the flutter that ment the baby was kicking. "How do you know it's a boy?" Her warm smile made me proud. "I just know. He's going to be a happy healthy baby boy." I kissed her. "I hope he has your looks." She frowned. "I always hated that I was born with my fathers looks. I don't want him to feel the same." She leaned against me. "I would be happy...no matter what he looks like. I will love him with all my heart." I felt tears fill my eyes. I loved her so much. "Hey...Meeko...what are we gonna name him?" I wraped my arms around her. "Mmm...how about Rikuo." She smiled. Rikuo...I like it."

The day of our move finally arrived. The only thing left to do was for Alice to go to the bank to pull out the deposit money we needed for the house. I asked to go with her, but she wouldn't hear of it. She was afraid someone would take me for an Alpha and shoot me. So I let her go against my better judgment.

I have regret that decision every day of my life.

"Mama has been gone a long time hasn't she?" I looked over at Leo. "You haven't called her that for awhile." He looked down at the floor. "I...I'm just worried. She should have been back by now." He was right...and it irritated me. I turned on the tv and tried not to think about it.

"...hostage situation at the Nimoka Bank..." I had changed the channel, but not before I heard the bank name. My blood became ice in my veins and my heart stopped. I turned the channel back. "An Alpha group has made a move against the Nimoka bank in Oturo city today. I have just received word that there are indeed hostages involved. Police are holding back for their sakes and we are currently waiting for more info."

I dropped the remote. "MeMe-Nii..." I ran to the door and was gone. Alice...Alice...ALICE! That was the bank she had gone to. She got there too late. Maybe she was caught in the crowd. Maybe she was on her way home and she had just missed the raid. I ran as fast as I could. I had never been so afraid in my whole life. Not even when I was going to die.

By the time I got to the bank it was too late. I saw a giant bear of a man. He was holding my Alice in front of him. "Humans are scum! You treat us hybrids like trash, while you continue to fill this world with your filthy kind! We will rise above you!"

The police were shocked. They didn't know what to do. He was using a pregnant woman as a shield. "ALICE!!!" She couldn't hear me. I was too far away. Her face was tear stained and there were spots of blood across it. They must have been killing the hostages. I tried to get through the crowd but was stopped my a cop. He aimed his gun at me and fired, hitting me in the leg. He must have thought I was with the Alphas. As I hit the ground I reached out and called for her again. This time she saw me and sge screamed my name. The bear panicked at the sound of the gunfire. I watched in horror as his fangs buried into Alice's neck and his claws went through her chest. The police opened fire.

Blood splurted from her mouth as she fell to the ground. I stood up and ran to her. I couldn't even feel the pain in my leg. All I saw was her. I craddled her in my arms as my tears fell. A police officer came near and I roared. He flinched. "M...meeko.." I looked down at my Alice. Her brown tear filled eyes were becoming glassy. Her had touched my cheek. "I love...you" I leaned my head against hers. "Shhh don't talk anymore. ..save your strength." She was so cold. "Leo...take...care..." I whirled around. "Someone get me a doctor damnit! !!!" Her hand was sliding down my cheek. I could smell her blood. "Meeko...forgive...." I could barely hear her. "Alice...don't leave me." The officer I had roared at removed his hat. "Son...it's too late...she's gone." I remember screaming...
