Dead End

Buriel witnessed the apparent assault and kidnapping of Danielle Arai and was unsure of what to do. Should he go after Shogo and destroy him as a threat (which would be beneficiary in a number of ways) or go after the boy, who had just obviously knocked out and kidnapped Danielle before slipping her into his car and driving away?

After much elaborate decision making (kidding!) he immediately jumped at the chance to punish the younger Amori by following him back to his base of operations.

Upon entering the semi-impenetrable military base, Soshi locked the iron doors behind him and carried his ex over his shoulder. There was a dark, suffocating hallway before him that led into what seemed to be a black abyss, but he ignored it and took a left before climbing up three flights of stairs. This hallway had the same abysmal blackness that the first near the entrance had, though the tail end of the vestibule was a great deal brighter and led to a small holding cell with automated locking doors.

There was an electronic panel next to the cell that, after Soshi had placed Danielle on the bed within the cubicle, the eighteen-year old pressed his palm to, locking it before he punched in an access code that electrified the iron bars in the door. He glanced at her form, his eyes dimming before he whispered, “You’re under arrest, love. I’m sorry.”

As he left the area and started down the stairs, the hairs on the back of his neck began to stand up on end. Behind? As he’s anticipated, a bullet lodged into the side of the stairway as he was rounding one of its corners to descend another flight.

Dammit. He didn’t have his katana on him, but…Soshi’s eyes danced around the chamber for a moment, shifting for a moment to look at the bullet hole. From above. He broke off into a run, glancing just a bit to see where the bullets began to make a trail behind him, hitting numerous walls and floors in an attempt to hit him. His sword was in the room nearest to the stairwell. If he could just continue to descend without getting shot…

“Peek-a-boo, I see you~!” The pleasant, albeit familiar voice entered his ears for a moment, almost distracting him from his goal. Fortunately, he made it down the final flight of stairs and slipped into the room beside it, pressing his back against the wall as he grabbed the katana that sat propped on the nearby wall.

He assumed that as he waited for his attacker, the man had been thrown off (which would be bad for anyone to assume at any time when they were being attacked), but he didn’t move. He listened for the slightest sound of breathing, walking, something for him to go on.

He could hear the reloading of a gun- the gunman was obviously nearby- at which point he stepped out of his hiding place and sprinted towards the sound, katana drawn and eyes fixed.

A barrage of bullets met him, all of which felt the steel of his blade. Halved bullet shells covered the ground when he finished, his eyes narrowing at the attacker.

A young-looking Japanese man with short, caramel brown hair stared back at him, his gun hanging loosely from his right hand. The piece of heavy artillery dropped from his fingers and hit the ground with a satisfying clack before he smiled at Soshi as his cheeks flushed with genuine excitement. “Hello again, Soshi.” With a flourish, he unsheathed his own katana, his face betraying no hint of killer intentions as he tilted his head to the side. “You’ll pay for hurting Danielle and placing her in danger. Didn’t I already warn you?” Shifting slightly as he studied the younger Amori, his excited smile became a soft one. “So hold still. I’m going to chop you to pieces, okay?”

Soshi’s eyes widened in horror. “A Yandere?"

Buriel laughed a bit. “Why yes! How nice of you to notice…” Their swords clashed at that moment, and Shogo, who watched them as he headed to the rooftop, could already sense the end for them both.
