Momentary shock danced across Danielle’s expression beneath the mask as Shogo fell, his body collapsing beneath him. In seconds, blood pooled around the body, dampening the dyed blonde head of hair that lay at her feet. Her gun lowered.
She looked up; Buriel stood there, the gun he’d gotten from Shogo still smoking from the one shot that had been fired still in ready position. When he saw her face, his arm dropped, and so did the gun; he looked down at the boy’s body before he locked eyes with her.
Neither one said a word. After a few moments passed, she walked over to him before placing the nose the gun on his temple. He sank to his knees and made no attempt to pick up his own hand gun; instead he watched her in some sort of awe, though it was easy to tell that he understood what was going to happen.
She hesitated again. It wasn’t like her to do such a thing so many times in one day, especially in the face of criminals, but she did it, and she felt ashamed for it. His fingers curled around the gun to keep it pressed to his temple; he stared into her eyes and smiled, a genuine smile, not a yandere one before mouthing something to her.
The trigger was pulled.
As his body collapsed into a heap on the ground, Danielle closed her eyes, attempting to ignore the blood splattered all over her costume.
“Thank you.”
The sun was rising in the distance. How had the night vanished so quickly? She glanced down at her nephew’s body, her former fiance’s and Soshi’s before she clenched her jaw.
“Y’know, Auntie, I hope you know what you’re doing. You go around killing people who kill. Does that make you any better than me, really?”
“An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. An evil for an evil,” she declared, and the gun pressed to her temple, “and a life for a life.”
BANG.
