It was very late at night. Karu was sitting in a chair, reading a book, with the light on. She put on her reading glasses and pulled back her very long, blood-red hair that contrasted with her icy blue eyes.

Karu was relatively short, and had very light skin. She had blood-red hair and icy blue eyes. She was about seventeen at the time, and always wore a white ribbon in her hair, a plain grey T-shirt, dark blue sweatpants, and usually was barefoot.

Her cat, Ice, walked into her room. He was a white cat with green eyes. "Hello, Ice." Karu said casually. Ice mewed back a hello. Even though Karu could not speak cat, she understood what he was saying.

Ice jumped onto Karu's lap and started purring. He rubbed against her book, Ocean World. Karu ignored him and continued reading.
