“Alright.” The prince stood up leaning on the table looking as if he had a weight on his shoulders. His eyes focused on Gavel. “You are my guests, you’re all welcome to tour our city. We will continue discussing the treaty tomorrow if you wish. The Aluran Ball is in three days and your invitations stand. I hope we can get past our differences gentlemen. I wish there was more I could do, but I’m sure as the leaders of your tribes you understand I must think of my people first.”
Gavel stood sighing. “Of course. Thank you for your hospitality your majesty.” He bowed formally, Pippen and Krogh got up and bowed as well.
Jaden also got up and turned. He began walking out with the prince at his side and Gavel and Pippen talking quietly behind them. “I hear you entered the city with a Lady Lilly, I believe her name was.” The prince said turning to Jaden as they walked. Ever since the prince was young he had taken to Jaden despite or possibly because of his father’s aversion to him. Often he would speak with Jaden when in other’s eyes he should have stayed away or kept the company of others.
Jaden nodded. “She is the daughter of Lord Bastian Avartine, I brought her here for the Aluran Ball.”
The prince’s brows rose. “I did not realize…”
“No.” Jaden interrupted realizing how it sounded. “We are friends. Nothing more.”
The prince snickered. “Well then.” They stopped and the prince looked at the four Rizel standing before him. “I bid you gentlemen good day and look forward to discussing our people’s future together.”
“As do we.” Gavel responded.
