Clara nodded satisfied. “Supper will be ready presently, please make yourself at home.”
She felt a bit awkward standing in someone else’s home but Othien smile putting his hand out ushering her to a high backed chair by the fireplace. “I was hoping to get a chance to tell you that story about your father and Jaden. Have you ever heard about their time in Olestra as children?”
Ann shook her head. “Neither of them really talk about then or how they became friends.”
Othien’s brows shot up. “Really? Well then.” He sat down across from her, she noticed Rak not far away also paying attention. “Now back then I was just a guard about the age of Sarrak. Your father was, I think eleven and Jaden of course was a little older. Being Rizel though he looked about the age of six for a human. Now… even back then your father loved books and for some reason he was set on becoming friends with Jaden. He would follow him around no matter how many times Jaden would try to scare him away. You see, Jaden was a very angry boy, always getting into fights and his attitude only served to amplify the bad feelings towards him. I have to admit, back then even I was extremely hard on him because of what he was. His father, Lord Finsen was always getting him out of trouble with the king’s guard. I don’t really know how many times I had to take him into custody and return him to his father. I even still have a scar along my arm from where he caught me with a knife he got from the kitchen.”
Lilly flinched back not realizing how much she never knew about Jaden and her father. Othien waved his hand as if it wasn’t important. “I was careless and he was scared, I didn’t blame him. Now that you know a bit about your father and Jaden. I want to tell you about the time, your father broke into the king’s private library.”
Lilly’s eyes widened. “My father?”
