Chapter 12
I woke up in the morning, groggy and in pain. A small plate with some tea and onigiri lay beside my bed. I remembered fully what had happened the night before. I carefully propped myself up, cri...

Gemstone Eyes
Chapter 11
The night sky was dark, clouds blocking the moon which was my only source of light. I stumbled over roots, ran through thickets, barely taking breaks. I fell once again, my ankle twisted. It hurt but stopping was not an option. I couldn't look back. Finally my body shut down, the adrenaline leaving my veins. I slumped against a tree. "If he followed me I have no idea what I would do." I thought.
I tighten into a ball and made myself as small as possible. My heart beat inside my, thundering. "Can he hear it?" I thought. I held my breath and waited. Minutes passed and sat there. The wind rustled the leaves above my head. I began to rise for my hiding spot.
Footsteps
I froze, my eye widening. They were close, ever so close. I quickly slid up and prepared to run again. Thump, thump crack! I dashed. Strong but sure hands grabbed me and pulled me back. "No! No! Let go of me! Don't hurt me. I'm sorry Akemi! I'm sorry!" I screamed, struggling from the grip. A hand cupped my mouth and I screamed louder. "Don't!" My muffled voice rang. "Sayuri, it's Ren. Your fine." He whispered. I continued to thrash.
He spun me around and put me into an embrace. He stroked my hair, held me close. The smell of tea leaves wafted through me. "Ren..." I whispered. "Your okay." He said soothingly. I sobbed into his shoulder. Hushed tones soothed my nerves and we stayed there for a long time. The panic began to subside.
"Is...is he following us?" I asked. "No." Ren replied, anger spiking in his voice. "We should get you back to the Inn. You need to get cleaned up. I nodded and we stood up again. My ankle gave way. "Agh!" I slumped back to the ground again. "Dammit!" I cursed. Ren's eyes were hard and he picked me up. "I wish I knew what he was thinking..." I thought. "C'mon Sayuri. You need to get home." He mumbled and started running.
Wow...sorry I haven't updated in so long you guys! Anyways, here's chapter 10!

Gemstone Eyes
Chapter 10
Akemi led me out of the festival grounds. We walked in awkward silence, a mad expression on his face. Something about Akemi frightened me a little bit. He was kind and nice but a small part of my mind said to be careful. I had never seen him mad. He stopped at a small clearing and stood still. I extended my hand. "Akemi I don't think that boy meant any harm. I mean, if that's what your upset about..." I trailed off. He gave a long sigh and sat down.
"Come, sit Sayuri-chan. I'm fine." He beckoned over to me. I still hadn't gotten a glimpse of his face and slowly walked towards him, taking a seat. "I'm not sure if we'll see the fireworks from here." I mumbled. "We will. I talked with the operator of them. This should be a perfect spot. You know the legend of course?" He said. Alarms went off in my head as I nodded. "Of course, you are a local after all." Akemi smirked.
"So you must know that if a couple kiss on the last firework of the last night, they are to be together forever." He said. "Well not exactly. They do have to kiss on the last night and the last firework but they aren't destined to be. And of course they do have to be a couple..." I said. "I think I prefer my version better." Akemi replied coldly. The alarms grew louder.
Pop!
My head shot to look at the sky. The last colours of a firework were disappearing. "It looks like they've started." Akemi said. My heart beat quickened and I looked towards him. He was staring at the sky, a smile on his lips. But something seemed harder, harsher in his eyes. I felt his hand on mine and I froze. Minutes passed. "It's ending soon. What do I do!?" I thought. For I knew what Akemi wanted. Something that I never did.
"A kiss."
The thought shot through my head with all the other ones. It stood out more. A last firework flared and I felt him turn to me. His head moved towards mine. "Stop!" I yelled. He didn't...
I jumped up. "Don't touch me." I said, my voice rising. Akemi stood up as well. "Sayuri-chan...I thought you liked me just as much as I liked you." His hand clamped onto my shoulder in a iron-grip. I jerked back. "I don't Akemi." I mumbled now. His eyes flared in anger. "Then you must face the punishment for fooling me, Sayuri-chan." He held his arms around me, trailing my back. I pushed back, out of his grip, turned around and ran.
I would never let him hurt me. My heart belonged to Ren. But what if my feet didn't carry my quick enough? I felt my kimono tear up as I moved my legs. There was no one there to come save me, to find me.
So I ran faster.
Hi! I was just cleaning out my stories folder and saw this. It was a assignment for Socials class as it was 9/11 and we were studying the Arab World. Enjoy

I arrived at work late on September 11, 2001. I worked as a freelance writer for several newspapers and was meeting for an interview. My husband worked at the World Trade Center, or the Twin Towers, and was always boasting to his friends about it. "Your building doesn't have 110 stories does it?" He would burst. I laughed along with the rest of his friends. We'd just married two years back and were proud that we have overcome our first year. We were thinking of a family.
I got to the meeting at about 7:50 am. I quickly sat down at my seat, brought out the recorder, pad of paper and pencil, and began. We started. About forty minutes later a shriek pierced though walls of the room. I leapt from my seat and into the nearby lobby, where the direction of the yell come from. One of my co-workers was staring in awe at the television screen. I left out a scream when I saw the headline.
One of the twin towers had collapsed.
"Is he in there? What can I do? Why did it collapse? What's happening!" I yelled inside my head. I barely made it to the seat beside me, my hand cupped over my mouth. "This just in: One of the Twin Towers has collapsed. I repeat: A Twin Tower has collapsed!" A news reporter exclaimed. We sat there watching the screen. I was in complete and utter shock. It seemed almost over until fifteen minutes were up.
A plane, clear as day, headed straight into the other tower. I let out a sob at the sight of it falling. I couldn't bare to watch anymore. He was in there, there was no way he wasn't, and he probably hadn't survived. My husband was most likely dead.
----------------------
It took approximately 2 hours for both the towers to fall on 9/11. Four planes were hijacked by terrorists. 2 of the planes flew into the Twin Towers. One plane hit the Pentagon. The fourth plane was directed to The Whitehouse but was overthrown but the passengers on board and flew into a farm. United 93 was the name of the plane. All planes were told to land or, if foreign, to go back. Most planes landed in Nova Scotia.
7 days of silence followed after the 9/11 attack, were 23 people survived and 2,976 were killed. No planes flew for 7 days strait. The stock market flew downwards.
The first plane hit the first tower at 8:46 am. The second plane it the second tower at 9:03 am, just fifteen minutes later. The Pentagon was hit by the third plane at 9:37 am. The fourth plane crashed into a field at 10:03 am. May we never forget what happened on this fateful day.
