I posted this in the dA forum too. Advice?

I just started college and am determined to be in the graphic design field. I am working on a game with my boyfriend who is the programmer of the game(I do the graphics). Since we're partners in this, I'm not paid until the project is done and sells. I'm fine with this as it'll be something to add to a portfolio when I look for other jobs.

Which I did. I applied for a character designing job for a small company overseas--it'll be mostly computer and paypal-paid. I submitted samples of the work I'm doing for the other game. The response was polite praise and questions about how I should be paid. This is my first application to a job of this kind. I've read online of people charging $15-35 per hour starting out. I don't know if that seems too much to charge, but my brother who does 3D character commissions suggested I charge $25 per hour. Is it just me, or is that a bit much?

Besides payment advice, if you have any advice on this career please share your wisdom! =)

Making an iPhone game =)

So, last Summer my boyfriend and I started planning a game for the iPhone--he'd do the programming and I'd do the graphics(when the game's finished I can use it in my portfolio and resume!). It should be done and out by Christmas, so keep an eye out for it!!

On another note, working on my website/online portfolio design again. It's a crappy draft but the main idea is there. When I do the final design I'll digitally draw it so that it still has that hand-drawn quality but looks more professional. What do you think so far?

Ordered Everything

I went ahead and just ordered everything for my DS. I figured I would have to get it all at some point, might as well do it now that I have the cash to afford it. I'm so excited, I'm gonna hole up and become a pocket gamer again <3 I'll post pictures once everything's here.

Pimp my DS Lite?

Thanks to my graduation funds, I actually have enough to rebuff my poor DS Lite. It's "polar white", but very very dirty. It's yellow on the inside, cracked, missing the GBA slot cover, scratched, etc. When I first got it, I intended to get a nice case for it and screen protectors and everything. I got it for Christmas on a trip, and I didn't have any money to do any of that. A speck of dirt got on the screen and it scratched when I dragged my stylus across.

Well, I have enough money now to get a CycloDS Evolution card, an EZ 3-in-1 slot 2 flash card(these two cards let me play downloaded game ROMS so I don't pay $40 a game), replacement "polar white" housing case(with GBA slot cover), AND a protective case. And screen protectors.

But should I? It's a lot of money at once. In total, I would pay $84.64, leaving $219.54 in my checking account. I'm not used to having money, somebody give an opinion. PLEASE!!

End of a Social Experiment

So back in the summertime one of my best girl friends and I decided to compete against each other for the title of Homecoming Princess this year--a jock against a geek, ya know? I considered it kind of like "well, let's see if a geek can really win against a jock in a high school popularity test"; geek takes all and etc. Well, I won. About 75% of me is like "Okay, now what" and the other 25% is like "holy shit, I'm popular".

ANYWAY--My dad stepped on my laptop, so I can only use HALF OF MY SCREEN =( It's a pain to check mail. My brother was passing by and started cracking up because he found it sad and amusing that I'm using the top half of my screen. I can't minimize my windows because I can't see the bottom of the darned things *dammit Mac*...

Loving my AP Art class still--I'm having some friends come over Saturday to help me take some reference photos; my theme is "nostalgia" so I need some nostalgic moments =3

I'mma go--just updating on my life...like a girl. This was the girliest week of my life XD
