Tales of Okuri Tale 3 of 7 Eliminating the Competition

Without warning, everyone, the young, the old, the skilled, the spiritual and the inexperienced, felt an ominous presence. The wind began to howl, and loose snow was strewn through the air, reducing visibility. Clouds darkened the sky, and contributed more snow to blind the people below. Okuri smiled. His plan, and his manipulation of the weather, had worked perfectly: Everyone would know he was coming, but no one would be able to see him coming. He made a signal with his hand, and Akamaru ran forward with a bloodthirsty snarl.

Isamu’s horse suddenly reared up on its hind legs and whinnied loudly. Throwing its master off its back, it ran off in the direction of the gate. Akamaru ran after it, overtaking it after one peculiarly great bound. He turned on the horse, leaping and closing his jaws on its jugular vein. Blood gushed from the wound, and with his powerful neck muscles Akamaru slammed the horse to the ground.

Katsuro’s manservant roared and charged Akamaru, who was eating the horse. Unseen and unknown to him, Kiba was anticipating this attack. He struck from above, severing the head cleanly.

Without warning, the Emperor’s portable throne room fell to the ground. The old man stumbled out from his walled shelter, only to find that each of the 4 servants carrying him had been stabbed with swords through their hearts. The 4 Samurai, with dark armor and clothing, withdrew their blades, and leaped backwards in the direction of Kiba and Akamaru.

They stood in a formation, with Akamaru at Kiba’s left and two Samurai on either side of them. None of them wore any sort of mask, and Inuko recognized each of them. On Kiba’s right was Ryota Kobayashi, and on his far right Takeshi Mori, both were dark haired men of approximately the same height. They were renowned for their murders all across the Land of Snow. Although their victims were murderers, rapists, highwaymen or were soon to be one, they were pursued ruthlessly by the Imperial police. Many argued that they saved many more people than they killed, but because they had no sort of authority assigned to punish criminals, the chase never stopped. Osamu Kai, an orange haired man, and Ichiro Minamoto, a yellow haired man, stood on Akamaru’s left and far left respectively. The Kai family made its business by selling bamboo, while the Minamoto family dealt with the harvest of stone and metal. These two must have been the suppliers in this rebel gang, providing the materials necessary to shorten a 2 year building project to a brief 9 months. Okuri, largest and most intimidating of them all, dropped down out of the sky to land between Kiba and Akamaru. The group was complete, and stared onwards, challenging anyone and everyone who stood before them.
