~Promise Me~

Atsushi smirked as he rubbed his cheek.

First Ikuto was shocked that his Uncle had just kissed the girl he loved. Then he was angry that his Uncle kissed the girl that he loved and just gave her his blood. His eyes flashed with anger as he disappeared in a flash and pushed Atsushi off of Chiyo. The two vampires fought with each other so fast that no mere mortal could see it.

Ikuto pressed Atsushi against the wall and Erik smirked. What a perfect chance to kill off two vampires. If he hurried and killed them both Chiyo’s transformation would stop. It was a well-known hunter fact that if the parent vampire was killed before the vampire blood took over the victim’s bodies then that person would return to normal. He looked at his future bride and then aimed his cross bow at the two vampires. The arrows were embedded with holy water and silver, a deadly combination for a vampire. He checked his aim and fired.

Chiyo closed her eyes. She felt dizzy and her blood felt like it was burning. She bit her lip so she would not scream. She heard a whizzing noise and then Sousuke cry out, “NO!”

Chiyo’s eyes snapped open. She saw an arrow flying towards Ikuto.
“NO!” she cried.

Ikuto turned as he heard something fall behind him and heard Amira and Ellie cry out.
He turned to see Chiyo on the ground, blood pouring from her chest. He let go of Atsushi and rushed to her side.
“Chiyo…” he said.
Chiyo smiled weakly at Ikuto.
“I couldn’t help it….” She said softly, “I wanted to save you….I…I love you…”
Ikuto squeezed her hand. His face was contorted with pain and his eyes showed such sorrow.

“It’s alright; sweet….Everything will be alright…”
“I’m sorry…”she said, closing her eyes, tears streaming from them.
She took one last shaky breath before she was gone.

Ikuto stared at the woman he loved in disbelief…She could not really…She was not really…She couldn’t be dead…
“Chiyo?! CHIYO!” Ellie screamed.
Amira pulled her younger sister close and started to cry. Sousuke placed a hand on Amira’s shoulder.

Atsushi hissed in distaste. His prize…what he had worked for…for so long…Gone. He looked back at his nephews and started to edge away. Erik went to chase after him, but Atsushi was gone in a flurry of bats. Erik cursed and looked over at Chiyo and Ikuto. He closed his eyes. He did this…He killed her…his future bride…This was Ikuto’s fault. If he had not wooed her away Erik would be married to Chiyo. He aimed his crossbow at Ikuto.

Ikuto closed his eyes and pulled Chiyo’s cold body close to himself. He hid his face in the shadows, if one looked closely they might have seen a single tear fall, but that must have been a trick of the light.

Erik fired, sending the arrow whizzing towards the grief stricken vampire. Ikuto reacted instantly. He set Chiyo down and snatched the arrow in midflight.
He snapped it in half and sent a murderous look at Erik.

“You killed her…” he said, his voice void of any emotion.
“Brother…” Sousuke warned.
“It was an accident! She jumped in the way…” Erik said, his expression pained, “I did not want her to die!”
“But yet you allowed her to die…”

Ikuto stood up and started to make his way towards Erik. Erik backed away, shooting arrows at Ikuto. Ikuto dodged them easily, not letting them faze him.
Amira watched Ikuto move towards Erik. She gasped.

“Ikuto look!” she cried, pointing at Chiyo.
Ikuto and Ellie both turned to look.
