She knew he wouldn‘t run from a fight and she knew if he had his way he would be right on the front lines of whatever came at Alura. “Promise me that once everything calms down, you’ll come straight home so I know you’re safe.”
“I was afraid for a moment that you had changed…” He said tapping her nose gently.
She knew he meant that in a good way but for some reason she hated the fact he refused to see her as a woman. He was like her father and just saw the little girl she used to be. She turned and walked away from him looking out over the balcony trying to push away the irrational anger she was feeling. “But I have changed.” She said over her shoulder faintly.
He walked to the balcony beside her. “Well you are more stubborn I guess.” He joked.
She frowned not seeing the humor. Shaking her head she laughed bitterly and turned away form him. “Your just like my father.” She began unable to hold it in any longer. “Good night my Lord.” Then she began walking away when she felt his hand holding her arm stopping her.
“What did I say?” He asked holding her fast as he came around but she looked away feeling her anger burn the tears away. “It doesn’t matter. No matter what I say I’ll never…..” She stopped. She wasn’t sure why she cared so much what he thought of her. So she turned and walked away.
The ball as over and everyone was gone to bed but a few people. Jaden had gone to the gardens to be alone. The coming battles that he knew were inevitable should have been on the forefront of his mind but his thoughts raced with the events on the balcony. He’d never seen her act so irrational like that. He went over their conversation and cold find nothing to warrant her anger and hurt. Lilly had always been a bit unpredictable and temperamental but something nagged at him. The whole event only brought up the past and began him thinking once again if he had chosen right to bring her there.
