She glanced at Jaden as they came around again, his eyes bore into her and his arms were crossed. She knew that look. “I’ve always wanted to meet other Rizel.”
His brows rose. “And why is that?”
She shrugged slightly. “Jaden doesn’t often talk about his time in the Outlands, or about his people. I never knew about how different your clans were from one another.”
“You know we were once all one clan, long ago. There isn‘t much known about that time. All we know is that the wars were started by three brothers. Amanzi, Khithika, and Ilang.” His voice held a charming quality that made her want to know more.
“I hope we’ll have time for you to tell me more about your people.” Lilly said noticing the song was almost over. He pulled her in slightly closer but it was enough to know that she would be hearing a lecture later.
“Perhaps someday I will take you to see my tribe, first hand.” His yellow eyes with slitted pupils were trained on hers. “But for now, I want to warn you to be safe. There is danger coming and I would hate for something to happen to you.” She was about to ask what he meant by that when the song ended. Jaden was there in an instant his hand gently on her arm.
He was focused on Gavel who just noticed him there. “Excuse us.” She allowed him to guide her away with one last smile to Gavel, preparing for the inevitable fight. They walked briskly out to the balcony, it was large enough to be another dance floor but it was empty. He let go of her arm. “What were you doing?”
His disappointed tone hit her harder than she expected but she brought herself up straight. “Dancing. I would have thought that was obvious.”
