I blinked as I heard my door slam, and then smiled a little. Snow was going coming back to talk to me, or something, and I was really happy about that. Then I looked down at myself and sighed. I grabbed a pretty night gown and threw that on and went to Snow’s room. “Hey Snow, are you ok?” I asked.
“I…I…” He stuttered from behind the door.
“I’m sorry I traumatized you.” I apologized.
“No…I didn’t knock…” He said. “So stupid…” I fiddled with my hands and then heard a whistle from down the hall and turned to see Lee looking at me with a wide grin.
“Your kitty cat not answering you? Looking like that? Now that’s a real shame, I’ll keep you company if he won’t.” Lee glanced at the door and winked at me. I smiled gratefully since I knew what was going to happen. Snow’s door whipped open and he looked at me, a slight look of relief on his face.
“Good…you are covered…Now where is that damn Lee?!” I took the opportunity to slip into his room and pulled Snow back in then shut the door.
“So, you wanted to see me? Well, n-not see me, you know, but talk, yeah…w-what’s up?” I asked clumsily.
“Oh…um, I’m sorry.” He said. “About earlier. You’re staying here rather than go back to your home and I feel bad I said no.” His ears went down slightly. I sat down on his bed and took a deep breath.
“Maybe it’s time I told you more about myself and where I come from.” I looked at him and his curious look came over him and he nodded. “So, my parents got together when they were quite young. And oops, mom got pregnant with me. I was an accident.” I explained.
“You aren’t an accident Candy…” Snow said. I smiled at him sadly.
“My parents are still together, but I pretty much raised myself. They are always gone having fun or at a party or taking a trip. They don’t really pay me much mind.”
“What about your friends?” He asked.
“I don’t really have many friends. I have one or two I talk to sometimes, but for the most part I’m a wallflower.” I said. “It’s not all bad. Just, it gets lonely sometimes.” I added.
“Well, you have us.” Snow said as he sat down beside me. “We are your friends.”
“Yeah…” I looked up at him. “I’m really happy about that.” I smiled.
“I like it when you smile. It, makes me happy. I don’t know how the people you are around most could ignore you. Especially if you had parents who raised you. I guess for spirits it’s different.” He said looking forward.
“How so?” I asked.
“Spirits are created from deep feelings. Some are good, and some, not so much.”
“How were you made?” I asked. He glanced at me, and looked a bit ashamed.
“You saw my true form.” He said.
“So, kindness? Compassion? Caring?” I said. He blinked at me, clearly caught off guard. “Because I think that’s your true self. If you were bad in here…” I touched his chest gently. “It would show all the time. You aren’t a monster Snow. You’re powerful yes, but that doesn’t make you bad.” I explained. “That would be like saying I’m extra boring and that I don’t care about anything and am selfish because I stay quiet and more internal. It’s just because I’m scared.”
“Of what?” Snow asked quietly.
“Being used, maybe being left.” I answered honestly. “I guess even, being forgotten.”
